My heart goes out to this woman and her child.

No doubt the local priest will say he is a great fella, from a good family etc.

MandyMotherOfBrian · 05/05/2023 08:36

There is no excuse and he is so disappointed, disgusted and ashamed of himself

No he fucking isn’t, and what’s the betting he still gets to see the little girl if he decides he wants to. I despair.

VaddaABeetch · 05/05/2023 08:50

Ahh but he suffered from depression the poor love. He probably played GAA & is a grand lad. This is totally out of character yadda yadd.

That poor little child having such a cruel, violent, waste of skin for a father.

The report suggests there was a delay before the mother phoned the police. I suspect there's an explanation and it's a shame that they don't give it.

It was the middle of the night. She might not have seen the messages.

Messages sent 4am/4.30ish. She's probably used to so much abuse from him she turned her phone off or on silent (unwisely given his apparent past behaviour and threats admittedly) so she could get some sleep and woke up to them.

Whatnowfgs · 05/05/2023 09:44

He should be charged with attempted murder.

I wonder what the sentencing range is for child cruelty. I hope it's custodial.

That situation should be watched by the authorities for fear of his escalating to physician violence against his ex partner or child. Of course it won't be though but terrifying.

Ladysquamy · 05/05/2023 17:31

He shouldn't be allowed any further contact with the child. He's a terrible father.

The explanation is that the child was in the care of her father who should be trusted not to leave her at the side of the road. The mum shouldn't need to be looking at her phone at 4am to check that her arsehole of an ex is messaging her or not.

Always4Brenner · 05/05/2023 17:46

He’s a disgrace that poor child and the worry her mum went through. I ho-e yes banned from seeing her again for life he’s no father.

Clearly all her fault then can't blame them for his behaviour can we

Where on earth does that suggest that it was the mother's fault? Any chance you might try reading posts properly before responding to them?

123ZYX · 05/05/2023 19:18

@Theunamedcat I think the PP was saying it's a shame the article didn't give the reason for the delay to avoid people putting blame on the mother

The problem is that the report indicates that she was well aware of what was happening, because the twat was phoning her all night threatening what he was going to do. As I say, there is probably an explanation and the blame lies fairly and squarely with the waste of space that is the father, but it's a pity that the report leaves that gap.

Yes, that's exactly right.

Totally agree.

BOOTS52PollyPrissyPants · 05/05/2023 19:27

Shocking and awful but am guessing he will get a letter from his local g.a.a. saying he comes from a good family, sick of all those letters saying that when they have done horrendous crimes. That poor woman and baby. Hope they get to move on in their lives and he spends time in prison. Nasty man to do that and to blame depression. Lots of people are suffering with depression but do not do evil things.

XBealtaine · 09/05/2023 19:09

Thank goodness the child is ok.

I agree, the father should be charged with attempted murder.

The mother was not obliged to make herself available to a barrage of abuse via text message at 4am. Whether she checked her messages or not, there is zero excuse for what he did.

How the fuck could anyone do this to their own child? Or any child come to that. What a sicko. Poor little love

Dublincailin · 10/05/2023 21:15

His jealousy and hatred and need to control the child's mother was more important than his child.

He will be out in 36months in 48 months will look for access and will get it because he's sorry.

LadyEloise1 · 11/05/2023 18:50

He'll be out in 36 months you write @Dublincailin.
I'd say he'll do half that. 🥲

Dublincailin · 11/05/2023 23:37

The max he can do is 27months as it's automatic 25% remission. I don't know from the article if his sentence is backdated.

Most likely he will be out for Christmas 2024. Then it will be either head down for 12 months after so nothing to report/ or just ignore court instructions.

January 2026 he will be dragging the mother to court for access and sadly will get it too.

CheekNerveGallAudacityandGumption · 11/05/2023 23:49

He is the incarnation of evil. If I was the mother I’d be having a whip round my family
to take out a contract on him. No way should be be allowed near that poor baby again.
