Was there another name for The Brownies in Ireland like bejeans? ( bajeans?)

I was in the brownies, we had a blue uniform- was there another organisation similar that had a brown uniform and a name like the bajeans? 🤔

Brigíns? They're the Catholic Girl Guides as opposed to Irish Girl Guides.

Yes,
In the 80's the brown uniforms were for the protestant brownies. Catholic wore dark / royal blue with a yellow tie. I was in the dark blue brigade and couldn't understand why my schoolfriend had to go to a different group with a different uniform.

I was in the brígins and had a brown uniform. Dress isn't the right word for it but it was long directed, to the knee and had a collar. Think we wore the st brigids cross on the pocket. And did we have a neckerchief? Can't be sure. I was in the scouts later on when they started accepting girls so that could have been where i wore the neckerchief.

Long sleeved

I went to a Brownie camp in N Ireland in the late 70s, and there were (shock horror) Catholic Brownies there too.

I don't remember different uniforms but we might all have been in mufti?

I had a fantastic week and obviously didn't know ( and wouldn't have cared) the other Brownies were Catholic, until I got home and asked my my mum why some of the Brownies had funny names - I had never heard Emer, Niamh, Siobhan etc
😳

I wore a blue brownie uniform but we were definitely called brownies not brigins. I was a scarlet pimpernel.

That sounds like Guides - they had scarlet pimpernel a. Aged 10/11 upwards.

Oh yes, Brownies were elves and fairies I think.

Ah I forgot I was a bridgini!! Those were the days, I had a book to earn badges like cleaning and sewing, had to pay 25p a week to attend.

Like most people my parents were beyond broke and couldn't keep up with the payments so the nuns sent me and my sisters away from the door and I was never sent back!

I had a blue dress with a yellow cravat for brownies at a Catholic school.I thought it was the Girl Guides that wore brown.I didn't last long at Girl Guides but loved Brownies.I was a Sixers.Happy memories.

Yes I remember my sister having the brown uniform in the Bridgins. They were constantly having to go to mass on Sundays with the uniform on

I think you have this the wrong way around! The Irish Girl Guides definitely had blue uniforms with yellow ties for their Brownies in the eighties. (I'm a Brownie leader and we have an old uniform in our cupboard[
