Hi,I'm finding all of the guidelines confusing so said I would ask here,

We are planning on going to Italy in July...northern Italy...so we may fly into Innsbruck (Austria)

What are the current rules/guidelines?

Both adults are double jabbed...
Dc not vaccinated...
We have all had COVID also...

Thank you.

It depends how old DC are.
Under 12 - they can travel with a vaccinated adult in Austria, over 12 - they cannot enter Austria.

We’re going to Northern Italy in the summer and will be flying to Verona. HTH

@SteakExpectations thank you so much...they are 6 and 9 so that's perfect.

Verona or Milan are our other airport options 👍

We’re going to Italy end of June, and I’ll be checking nearer the time what ‘expiry’ they have on required vaccination. I think Italy brought in 6 months, different from the EU norm of 9 months. It’s very possible all these things will change, but my booster will be ‘out of date’ if it remains 6m. I’m just assuming I’ll need another before travelling, like going to somewhere exotic Grin

@Pearlyqueen21 I had no idea about that and there’s no way I’m having any more vaccinations so may well have to reconsider my holiday destination too

apprenticewage · 20/02/2022 16:43

@SteakExpectations me neither. I have been left with high blood pressure and tachycardia since the first vaccines 😩 so I can't and won't be having the booster 😭

If you can get an exemption letter from the adverse reactions from the vaccine that maybe possible. But you would probably need to test regularly once abroad.

apprenticewage · 20/02/2022 16:55

@NrlySp I'm looking into that yes. Thank you.

Bear in mind (a) entry requirements for the country, and (b) ‘green pass’ type requirements for using facilities once you’re there (public transport, restaurants, museums etc etc). Again, it’s entirely possible that all restrictions will be dropped by then 👍 But if you’re not planning any boosters, I would definitely research the worse case scenario for your family in Italy and consider if it’s still a good fit. For example, we went to France in October as 2 vaccinated (and up to date) adults but a not-yet vaccinated teen. We could enter the country fine, but couldn’t go into any restaurants etc without testing DD every few days. We were happy to stick with our self-catering, and just accepted the restrictions. But that wouldn’t have suited every family.

I'm going to Italy over the Easter Holidays so made sure I went for a pcr test when I had a positive antigen test two weeks ago so I could get a recovery cert for travel reasons. I don't know how long I'll have to wait for it. I'm double vaccinated and had my booster in early December.

Now, almost all countries have relaxed restrictions on entry into the country. Many European countries have even completely removed any restrictions. However, there is still time until July. It is not known what can happen. Closer to the train, I advise you to find official information about the situation in Italy. So it will be much better and more reliable. Last fall, I visited my sister in Italy. My travel log template says that you could only travel to the country if you had a vaccination certificate. I describe each trip in my travel log template because it is very useful, especially during a pandemic. My friends often ask me what is needed, how to do it, etc.
