Teacher gifts in secondary?

Eldest is in first year and I don’t know any other parents at all.

Back in my day we gave a present to the primary teacher but never in secondary that I remember.

But I’m saying that I’ve had three meetings and two phone calls with the Special Ed coordinator who has been fabulous and his sna is brilliant.

What does everyone else do?

I don't give any presents to secondary school teachers, but I write an email to the principal of the school my two go to, to wish herself, deputy principal and staff a happy Christmas/enjoy the summer holidays.
If you would like to give a gift to the special ed coordinator, though, I'm sure he/she would appreciate it.

I work in secondary. We don’t expect any presents, and the kids that do give them can feel a bit embarrassed. It’s a rarity to receive any to be honest

Many will come on to say no gifts.
Certainly secondary teachers get fewer gifts than primary teachers but as a secondary teacher I am always really delighted to get a gift, ( and if it’s not edible/ drinkable I always keep it and treasure it) and have also always been happy to send presents in for the teachers my kids wanted to give them too.
If the SENCO has been great then it is a really nice way to show your appreciation. Maybe a box of biscuits or bottle of wine or similar. (Only caveat would be don’t spend too much, as most state schools have a £20/25 gift limit that staff can accept)

We're in the same boat. We're buying form tutors and that's it.

I have done it in the past, via the school office, not via my child.
Mainly for pastoral care who were fab with DD.

Definitely to do it through the school office. I'm sure it was appreciated.

I give something to those teachers dcs would like to give to because they appreciate them.
It's a nice gesture. The dcs leave it at the office and I mention my appreciation to the head teacher when i see them.

Thanks for the feedback. I hadn’t thought about the embarrassment factor at all! That could indeed be a stumbling block!
