Amber country-Dublin-NI: so confused

I have been looking this up all day and feel like I cannot make sense of any if it. I am not normally so thick. I am 8 weeks pregnant and my other kids have been noisily fighting all morning. In the end I felt weepy and had a lie down.

I am due to fly from a country on the orange list to Dublin next weekend and then drive to Northern Ireland where my family are.

My husband is fully vaccinated. I am half vaccinated and will be when I go back to Ireland. Kids are 6 and under.

For some (stupid) reason, I (mistakenly) thought that we didnt have to quarantine because I was travelling from on EU country to another and I never took the Northern Ireland thing into consideration. I have no idea why I thought this.

We will therefore be quarantining in my in law's large house with big garden in the country. Is it for 10 days? Can I see my own parents in the garden in that time? Can I get a covid test after 5 days to release me, even if I wont be fully vaccinated?

Should we postpone our trip until after 19th July or will this make no difference as we will still be travelling up north? I now realise that non essential travel is not allowed until 19th July either. I also feel sad that wanting to see my family for the first time in a year isnt a good enough reason to go home next week.

Cant believe I havent researched this more!

Sorry, I am all over the place! Cant believe I've been so lax about figuring this all out!

This link provides all the information.

In short, you must:

  • provide proof of a negative COVID-19 test result taken up to three days before departure
  • book post-arrival testing
  • complete a UK passenger locator form either on arrival, or in the 48 hours before arrival
  • self-isolate for 10 days

You can self isolate with your family and see them/ have normal contact. They don't need to self isolate with you. I don't think you can get early release via testing.

I would also look carefully at the requirements for arriving in ROI. They have their own rules. The 19th July is only relevant to England, not NI or ROI.

@ClaudiaWankleman thank you. We can self isolate in my in laws but what about seeing my own parents who live nearby? My dad is picking us up from the airport for a start 🙈

@halcyondays it's on the Dublin airport website so am assuming it applies to ROI but I'm struggling to take information in lately!
