Isint it just a nightmare!!
We are both fully vaccinated and have 2 children who arent. We are booked to go abroad to Spain in August . I just cant subject my 2 kids to PCR to return home never mind the cost. Its nightmarish totally. Holohan is very hardline on travel . Saw a thread on twitter in the antigen/pcr controversy who said the vulnerable are vaccinated now so its time to protect the vulnerable industries decimated by covid. Ie hospitality and aviation. I was searching for a portal for the green/ digital cert and nothing altho' travel is opening apparantly on the 19.7
Its so difficult on those with family abroad. Restrictions feel worse rather than better now. Planes continued to land from Italy when all this kicked off. What do you all think ??

PCR may be cheaper abroad than it is here, it is in the country we are hoping to travel to, I have been checking as we will also probably need DS to have a PCR to come back, and needed to know it was available in the place we go to.

We live in the UK so my kids have had multiple PCR tests just to be able to attend school, when they've had a cough. They're not pleasant but fine really, unless your DC are toddlers I guess!
Cost is obviously an issue.
Depends how much you want a holiday.
OTOH I'm desperate to get back to Ireland to see family and would gladly suffer the cost and hassle of PCR tests for kids but the quarantine restrictions make it a deal breaker. It's shit!

Also, I know it's a constantly evolving situation but some clarity on what is required for unvaccinated children would be good. The Irish Government seem to be scant on details

Oh, if you are worried about them actually having the test, it really is not that much of a deal, my DS (12 and autistic) has had three and they didn't faze him at all.

The PCR tests are really not a big issue. A tiny bit uncomfortable is all. If you prep them in advance so they know what to expect, they'll be fine.

I think if you are travelling, you need to build the cost of the PCR tests into your budget. Yers, it's shit but we have done quite well in Ireland in terms of deaths with the cautious approach we have taken.

I do think they need to start opening up a bit more and testing is a big part of making that safe. So vaccination or tests for travel, similar approaches to indoors to other EU countries (vaccine/test) and so on.

As it stands now, you have to do the PCR before leaving Spain to re-enter other EU countries don't you? It's not an option.
