Does anyone know how much leeway there is on time of PCR test flying into Ireland?

Had test. Result negative. Fly tomorrow. I land 20 minutes before my test ‘expires’.

Wondering if I should change to earlier flight.

Does anyone know how likely they would be to stick to the timing?

Depends on your approach to risk. Flight arrival time usually builds a delay window in, plus with vastly reduced traffic the time from plane to passport control assuming no hold luggage is less than usual. You could always email the authorities to see if they will put it in writing that your result is still acceptable. Alternatively change your flight and ensure there is a decent time window between scheduled arrival and 72 hour test expiry

I doubt they’d be that pedantic? I’ve organised tests for people leaving the country (GP surgery) and we just can’t be that precise about timing. It’s roughly 72 hours and take what you get! Haven’t had anyone turned back yet…

Thanks. Aer Lingus emailed and asked I downloaded VeriFLY which I’ve done and you have to upload all documents and it’s all been accepted so I appear to be good to go. Fingers crossed!

I got the ferry, and despite reading everything 100 times, I messed up and did the test 72 hours from ferry departure from Hollyhead, not arrival in Ireland (was all because I had to test Sunday and I fitted it in around last royal mail pickup being 4pm- should have booked currier instead.

They took the print out off me at the ferry check-in point (UK side) and looked at it pretty thoroughly (as they did with everyone before me) but they never even mentioned that I was would be just over the 72 hrs for the test on arrival (think it worked out at about 74.5 hrs). And I can't even remember if they asked to see the test in Ireland, but if they did, then again, nothing was questioned about the timings.

No idea how that relates to what you'll find with flights, but that was my experience!
