Opinions on St Gerards School in Bray?

Looking like we’ll be moving to Ireland next year after 15 years in London and 2 years in Spain. We have two boys who are 9 and 7 (so will be 10 and 8 when we move)

DH wants to live in Greystones, I’m open to anywhere within reach of Dublin airport and we have family in Wicklow, Meath and Cork.

We’ve heard good things about St Gerards and I’d love to hear from anyone who has any knowledge of the school?

Would also love to hear any other school suggestions? We’re both Irish, not sure if applying for catholic schools is a problem if the family aren’t catholic (in that the kids aren’t baptised) but we’d open to any kind of school with good pastoral care and a nice community.

Any advice welcome!

This is an excellent school. My children do not go there because I cannot afford it but my daughter's friend goes there and from what I hear, it's as good as it always was. Don't worry about not being Catholic. They be hyper catholic. It'll be cultural catholicism.

I would love to send my children there to be honest. They get a really high percentage of their students in to university (if you're sticking around for that) but they also have a lot of extra curricular activities and great facilities.

I love Greystones. Great place to live.

Ours do not go there (they are in a south Dublin private) but they have friends there. Lovely school, good academically as well in terms of social and team spirit type stuff.

I would suggest you Google the Irish Times -Feeder Schools map. It's a great starting point and might give you good food for thought.

Greystones is lovely but commute times (if driving to city centre) can be yuck! The N11 can often be a car park do be sure you can either travel outside of normal hours or, use Dart (again early) if possible.

However. Good community, near the sea, near the hills/mountains, lots of sports and extracurricular stuff for kids.

However, you might get more bang for your buck in Cork.
