Quarantining when returning to Ireland

Returning to Ireland in late June.

Will the 14 day quarantine still be a requirement?

Returning from where?

I'd say if anything it'll be even stricter. I think at the moment you just have to say where you'll be staying and stay in for 2 weeks...they are looking at making it more enforceable.

Interested in this as we were to have a French exchange student arrive early July.
Would love if he could come but it seems unlikely now.

I'm now presuming that quarantine will be in place in Ireland for international arrivals until the end of the year - at the very least.

There goes xmas at home with my family then..... Sad

At the moment this is not enforced. Over a third of those doing this have 'not been in touch' and are not followed up so really no checks or proof.

I hope this will change.

I think quarantine might be enforced by the time I arrive in late June.

According to the BBC website, there is a bilateral travel arrangement between the UK and Ireland. Is this true?

I know the UK have said there is no need to quarantine entering the UK from Ireland, but had not seen anything indicating the reverse. Did I just miss it?
I did a quick Google but could only find reference to the common travel area for normal times, nothing about a UK exception to the quarantine request.

Oh I am
Watching this with interest. Normally travel home from UK every 6 weeks. I haven’t seen anything about Ireland allowing those entering from Uk to be exempt yet.....but I am hoping. My Dad has cancer and I am due a baby in the summer so hoping I’ll be able to travel over in September via ferry maybe. It’s breaking my heart

@Muh2020 My brother was booked to fly from HK to Dublin on June 30th, but changed his flight to August 1st (having already changed it from March to June). But says he will change it again if he would need to quarantine, as he would only be coming for two weeks anyway.
It's a shame Cathay stopped the direct HK to Dublin flight; they seem to have pretty much stopped the virus in HK, so biggest risk would be picking it up at the transit airport.

This is what The BBC reported -

The UK, which has left the EU but still operates under its rules this year, plans to impose a 14-day quarantine on arrivals by air. However, it has agreed bilateral travel arrangements with France and Ireland that mean there would be no quarantine involved.

We will have summer tourist season, promises EU - www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-52644816

But I did not see this bilateral agreement reported in Ireland - not sure if I missed it or if it's 'fake news'.
