Hi, I’m living in UK, I’m going to a wedding in Dublin. It’s black tie, great location, will be a lovely day I’m sure!

Just wondered what the going rate is for how much to spend on presents. It’s a fairly close family member but the parents are my generation, don’t often see the person getting married . Don’t want to appear mean but also don’t want to appear silly generous. There will be 4 of us attending the wedding (2 adults, 2 kids) if that has any bearing.
I haven’t been to a wedding for years and have no clue how much is average?!?!

(Also, it will be from a wedding gift registry as opposed to cash.)

@Mawi thanks, is that in total for your family? How many are you bringing to the wedding and does that have a bearing?

I only take my dc to immediate family weddings. It is the norm around here thankfully. If one of our siblings get married then dc go but other than that it is just the 2 of us. It is completely the norm here to not invite DC other than immediate family.

As a guide since you haven’t stated the relationship We gave 200€ last year for my nieces wedding. Just the two of us invited not kids.

We give 200 (we don't being the kids)
In your situation I would give 250. That's said people from England at ours gave between 50 and 100
