Anyone interested ?
Personally I think they should abolish the office.
Far too expensive to waste run for just a figurehead.
No candidate appeals to me.

I think Sean Gallagher came across very poorly.

Duffy was forgettable.

I thought previously that I might vote for Joan but couldn't warm to her in the debate. Might still vote for her.

I find Michael D to be arrogant - he talks about how he has given fifty years of service to public... my God hasn't he been paid handsomely for it! I think it's time for a change. I couldn't name one thing he has done in the last 7 years.

Liadh - I'd never vote Sinn Fein. Ever. She came across reasonably well until the question about average industrial wage tripped her up.

Casey - I still think he will get a huge vote! At least he comes across as honest..

MotherForkinShirtBalls · 24/10/2018 00:39

David McCullagh is getting my vote.

honeyrider · 24/10/2018 01:22

Peter Casey came across the best of a bad lot tonight. I still think Michael D has it in the bag but his margin will not be as big as it was a few weeks ago. Lots of different reports coming out about him loving the lavish high life with the tax payer picking up the tab. He looks very old and tired tonight.

seething1234 · 25/10/2018 10:12

I've no idea who to vote for. I'm badly prepared haven't seen any of the debates. I really dislike MDH. Years and years ago I used to work in a cafe that he used to visit and he was a very unlikeable person, full of his own importance. So won't be voting for him. Had no idea JF voted against the 8th. Jesus the selections not great.

Sailorsgirl44 · 25/10/2018 16:02

Why has there been no official polls released since the 16th October? The last official poll shows Casey at 2% - that must be much higher now.. Paddy powers have in second place... at 10/1.

Could it be that the media want Michael D to continue? Want people to think that there's not much point in voting as he'll win it anyway? If people thought that Casey might get 20%+ they might reconsider and think he is worth a vote??

In the ten days leading up to the 2011 presidential vote there were 3 or 4 official polls done.

honeyrider · 26/10/2018 01:05

The media especially RTE are very biased towards Michael D. Most people I know are going to vote for Peter Casey.

Alwaysrushingaround · 26/10/2018 22:29

Red c exit poll suggesting Michael D has the lead - Shame !
I was hoping Peter Casey would do it although he got 20% approximately of the vote and is second

THIS ^^.

It's horrible to see the return of Blueshirtism to Ireland.

Sailorsgirl44 · 27/10/2018 08:50

Casey didn't want to 'demonise' the poor - he said he thought Travellers should be treated the same as everyone else.

Travellers have low rates of school attendance, very low employment rates and a disproportionate high number in prison. They have higher infant mortality rates and lower life expectancy.

Take example of Margaret Cash - she left school at 12 and was married at 15... then goes on to have seven children in quick succession. She recently received her 39th conviction in Court. Is this a 'culture' we should be supporting?

Would you like this life for your daughter?

Cash has seven children - I would love if these children all completed their Leaving Certs and went on to College like other Irish children. Her children should be given the same chances and opportunities as everyone else... but will they be? Casey wants Travellers to be treated the same as everyone else. Why is that such a bad thing?

It is factually correct that there are currently a family of Travellers in Tipperary refusing to move into six new built houses because the Council did not provide stables and suitable land for horses.

I accept that there are of course hard working Travellers who do pay tax. But perhaps it is time to have a conversation about why Caseys comments resonated with so many people?
