Belfast with 11yr old DS for weekend!

I am in Belfast this weekend, my DD wants to go to Uni there as she has friends there so we are having a family trip this weekend to have a look around. I will be mostly with my DS who is 11 and am looking forward to us mooching around. What can we do though other than this though? I, heard the Titanic museum is great any other suggestions would be good, or things to avoid. Any good cheapish places to eat out you could tell me about too please :-)

Titanic exhibition is good, though not as amazing as I'd been led to believe (IMO). But definitely worth a visit

My 11 year old went to the Titanic exhibition a few months ago (we'd been meaning to go for ages and hadn't done it), she absolutely loved it, my husband took her and he said she really really enjoyed it. There's a kids arts festival on this weekend. I think most of the events are in the Titanic quarter on Sat and in and around Botanic Gardens/Ulster Museum on Sunday. She also loves Crumlin Road gaol, been with us and the school. Tbh mine usually likes to eat in Nando's and the like. If you're on foot there's loads of that type of restaurant in Victoria Square. Would he like an open top bus tour? You can pick them up in the city centre.

The folk and transport museum is good and only a quick trip on the train line from Belfast.

I ate out at the Duck House beside Zen last week and wouldn't recommend it so avoid that.

St Georges Market on Sat/Sun mornings is worth a juke as well. But the shops don't open until 1pm on Sunday if you're thinking of shopping.
Restaurant wise - I like Havana in Bank Sq, Zen, most of the pubs do decent enough food, its not extortionate. Where are you staying?

St George's Market is great on the weekend, loads of nice food stalls for lunch.

The ulster museum is good on Sunday and it's quiet in the morning it opens at 10 so well before the shops and there's also great wee cafes near for breakfast and it's right next to queens.

I took my 11 & 12 year olds to titanic exhibition recently they thought it was great. We did the building tour which was also really interesting I'd definitely recommend it

Good to hear the Titanic museum gets a thumbs up from similar aged children, I really like that kind of thing so def want to go.
