We are visiting near Ballymena for the first week in January, we usually come over in the summer and do the beaches etc, can anyone recommend things to do in the wet/cold with 2 DC's aged 8 and 10 which will be open. We have done Titanic museum 3 times but suspect we will end up there again, there is a home game for ice hockey, is that any good to go to? Found the trampolining and ski place.

Have you done W5 and the Ulster Museum? Both are good,though I would check the opening times for the museum.How about the lesuireplex in Lisburn for swimming,though it's a bit of a trek from Ballymena.

Thank you, will pack swimming things, DS has done W5, not worried about driving as friend will be working during the day anyway.

Are they narnia fans? There's a new sculpture garden in east Belfast, and the odd guided tour.

Also, from sculpture garden go on to the Dundonal ice bowl. They have Clip n Climb wall climbing and ice skating.

Clip and climb in Dundonald also has outdoor pirate golf, which is great, and cinema/restaurants across the road. That'll pass a day.

Ooo and do they like archery or paintball? There is an outdoor sports pkace across the road from the titanic centre.

Ulster folk museum at cultra, great day out. Can walk to the transport museum in a few mins too so there's something for everyone there. They have a website if you have time to check it out.
If you're going to be based in ballymena, why not bring wetsuits and get body board for the kids - Portstewart strand isn't that far from there and is a real treasure. Bring a picnic lunch, obligatory egg and onion sandwiches, tattoo crops and a flask of tea required lol, there'll be people there in droves rain or shine! Portstewart is nice, with Plenty of places to eat, a Morellis ice cream shop and a great play park on the front for the kids. If you've time, go to Portstewart golf club for your evening meal, food is great (avoid portrush though, it's tacky and awful)
