Solid Cot for keeps

Hi All,

Seeking some advice from those who may have found the holy grail of cots - something solid wood which will adapt with age and stand the test of time. Seems all the companies out there now are offering painted MDF rubbish and charging premium price tags for it which I personally think is outrageous! We plan to have multiple children ourselves and intend for this to become a family heirloom (the swinging crib I slept in as a baby has been lovingly restored and is awaiting baby's arrival). Wondering if anyone has found something from a UK based company which fits the brief. If not we will probably suck up the price from pottery barn or import from Hola BB. Alternatively we have found some beautiful ones on FB Marketplace and will upcycle from there.

Thanks in advance!

Ooh thank you, have you had any of their furniture before to recommend it?

I've a couple of pieces from there and it's all good quality x

We have a Boori cot, the country style one which I don’t think they sell new anymore but you would get one second hand. Solid wood, very sturdy. Our 2 year old loves it, and it could be a cot bed as welp

Just be careful with the old swinging crib and anything you get from marketplace. Safety standards change over time and they don't write them to be awkward but because there are genuine risks. You also need to check that any mattresses fit snugly, there is a place which will cut baby mattresses to size for you from the regulation foams if the correct size is no longer sold.

Amazing, I've had a look and it seems to be exactly what we're after with a 15 year guarantee as well. Thanks! X

Totally agree with this post and the sentiment behind it so thank you! Swinging crib would only be used in the day for supervised naps, we have a SnuzPod 4 for night sleeping. Could you share the name of the place that does custom mattresses for anyone looking in future? It may be of use to them too ☺️
