Advice for transition cot/bed?

Hi everyone,

This is my first post and so pleased to meet you all! I’m a first time mum expecting my baby in September.

I’m starting to think about gathering things we need, and we don’t have loads of space in our flat. I would like a transition cot/bed that goes from newborn to toddler all in one and ideally starts with the newborn section being next to the bed. The choice is overwhelming! Can anyone advise as to what would be best for me?

Many thanks everyone.

Rachel

We live in a small house. Son (now toddler) was in a next-to-me then went into his own room around 7 months.

He has the Maya Obaby cot bed. It has the 3 heights although we didn't use it until he was going in on the lowest setting anyway as he was standing up at 7 months. And it can convert to toddler bed in various ways. It's a really lovely bed. Does til age 4 but I can see us getting longer out of it as he's quite small.

If you want a newborn bassinet/moses basket to toddler bed type thing those are really expensive. I can think of the next to me Forever but that looks really ugly in toddler mode and I don’t like that it’s a floor bed. There’s the Stokke but it’s a weird shape so probably not ideal with bedding in junior bed mode. I can’t think of any others.

Personally I’d get a co-sleeper crib or moses basket, whichever you prefer, for the newborn period. Then go to IKEA and get a cot bed when outgrown.
