Hi fellow mumsnetters ! We are expecting our first baby in December and are wondering if people who have used the Joie roomie glide bedside crib could share their experience as we haven’t been able to actually see one ? Any idea if the wheels would work on a carpetted floor ?

We are keen to have a bedside crib with co-sleeper mode with rocking function and portability (to move between rooms within flat in day-time) and have been wondering if wheels of Joie or NextToMe Magic would work at all or should we be thinking of Snuzpod (although I didn’t like it’s rocking function, also seems very bulky).

Would really appreciate your inputs.

We had a next to me magic. It was massive, and rickety. And to do sleep you have to strap to bed. There’s no way it’s easily portable.

Tbh I would get a Moses basket - snuz basket in future. Possible two, so they are just in both rooms anyway ( two are still cheaper than one next to me). My Ds could climb out the next to me by 5 months

We had this. You can’t rock it if it’s attached to the bed. The wheels aren’t great on carpet and it’s quite big to be moving around. It was a bit creaky as well. We had a Moses basket downstairs.

We had a snuzpod and loved it. I’ve actually had 2 as sold the first one and had to buy another second time around. Didn’t use the rocking function at all, not something I think is really needed and it doesn’t work brilliantly on carpet. I also had a snuz baskit for downstairs naps which was great for the first 4 months until he became distracted by every noise around him and we had to put him upstairs to sleep

Thanks for replying. I was hoping the wheels make it portable-was that not the case for you ? Thought if going for a bedside crib over Moses basket as hoping the have baby super close to make night feeds easier for the 6 months or so that they need night feeds…

Thanks for replying. Was it easy-ish to drag the crib on the wheels in carpetted areas ? May make sense to look for one without wheels or something like the snuzpod otherwise…

we hope not to use the rocking function but would rather have it-my nephew was a fussy baby and I remember my sister struggling till she got him a rocking crib.

do you remember how easily detachable the bassinet is-if a wheeled crib is not movable on our carpet, id rather go for a detachable bassinet-won’t need to carry it a lot as we live in a small-ish London flat…

@Tabby321 - you can’t use the next to me as wheel and Co sleeper. If you want to wheel then you need to use separate with side up. As if Co sleeper you have to lift your entire king size Mattress or whatever it is and strap the crib down, so then it’s not easy to move away again.

You also can’t use rocking function on anything that’s Co sleeping as it’s again attached. So only rock if it’s detached.

Basically lots have different functions, but you can’t use them all at once

Glancing down the active list of posts I read this as "cats" so clicked on it to see what on earth kind of name was that?! Who would name a cat that (whatever those words mean 😁)?
Realised my mistake as soon as I clicked on it.
As you were.
🤦🏼‍♀️😂

That will be an interesting thread-baby product brand names that can pass off as cat names too…
