Cots and beds

Bedside crib/cosleepers - which one? Side down while sleeping?

We are currently stuck between three of these and need help to decide which one!
Chico next2me magic, Tutti Bambini Cozee and Snuzpod.
The snuzpod looked lovely but seemed quite small. The next2me was ok, and seems a popular choice. I like the tutti bambini cozee lookswise and the fact it’s easily packed up for travel.
I’m having a c-section so wondering if it’s even going to be possible to attach it to the bed, as there will be no way for me to get out comfortably. Also, the lady in our local baby shop said that the side of the cot should be raised while sleeping so not to risk kicking covers onto baby...so I don’t really see the purpose of attaching it to the bed in this case? Or do people actually sleep with the side down?
Sorry for the probably previously asked questions - first time mum and overwhelmed with all the product decisions!

We removed the side of a normal cot. Put the floor of the cot at the same height as our bed. Bungie corded the cot to our bed frame underneath. Had a caravan factory cut a small high density foam to fill the small gap between bed mattress and cot mattress which was covered by our sheet.

Leave in place for 6 years and 4 kids. We slept with sheets and a king size cotton blanket, which would of not caused issues with a baby breathing even if it was accidental cover babies face.

Tbh our cot was a roll out zone if our baby roll away from me
But they all stayed cuddled up to me and the milk. I miss that sometimes but if course I am glad they grew up too. The baby stage is very rewarding but physically very hard. Grin

We had the Chico next2me, also after a section and it was perfect. Though I never tried the others you suggested!

Sounds very much like the arrangement I jury rigged Grin. Two years of extremely happy and contented best-of-both-worlds co-sleeping. DS got instant comforting as required, I didn't even have to wake up fully in order to supply it, he didn't kick me while squirming around, I didn't have to worry about the covers landing on him.

Definitely leave the side down otherwise there's no bloomin' point.

DianasLasso It took a few weeks before we coslept with 1st baby, until I dozed while feeding on a nursing chair. I was so tired. So something had to change.
So we started cosleeping and it was so much better. We all slept more and I always had to latch babies on to nurse, but that took a second and back to sleep I went.
Cot got more service as a place I kept thin changing mat, spare cloth nappies and a wetbag for any night changes.

Think we coslept for just under 9 years. The youngest two were very resistant to moving out and slowly migrated to a bunkbed. Which had a double bed in the bottom and both girls took the bottom bed together...aww
