Please help me pick a bedside crib

So dd is due in 8 weeks and I'm having real problems picking which cot to buy. Ideally we'd like her next to me in a bedside crib to make night feeds etc easier. Neither of us are keen on co-sleeping personally and it seems like this is the next best thing. She'll be next to me but not in the same bed. But it seems like there aren't that many choices for us out there. We want a proper wooden one rather than the NCT type ones which we don't like the look of and are ludicrously expensive for what they are.

So anyway I've seen a couple on ebay and just wanted some thoughts on them. I think one with a side that goes up and down rather than no side would be better, does this really matter? How soon can babies roll over and therefore potentially roll into bed with us? Does this even happen? I'd really appreciate any thoughts, advice, anecdotes which would help me decide before I go mad before she's born. Then it's onto the pram... (we found one finally but the car seat doesn't fit our car:-( ) but that's for another thread! Thanks :-)

The nct one is great and is wood except for the folding side.

We've gone for a snuzpod which has a mesh side that goes up and down easily. It's not the style you're really looking for but it looks really good and can be used as a Moses basket because it detaches from the stand.

Personally I would have a look on you tube for converting a normal crib into a cosleeper. That's what we did and It will be cheaper and last much longer.

You've probably seen this but the NCT rent them for 6months.. We've opted for this as a good deal of the cost covers the new mattress and I love the idea of them collecting it at the end. We have a small house and its one less thing to store!

We got a troll one, the side lifts up and over the top so it's 'stored' alongside the fixed side. We had the mattress about a cm lower than our mattress which to start with was enough to stop dd rolling into our bed. Could lower it more or pull the moveable side into position (and then it has a drop side feature so not too high). It's been brilliant and will last for ages (it's a proper sized cot).
