Cot mattress?

Hi,

I'm currently 28 weeks along with dc2 and just looking to buy replacement mattresses for the cot and crib etc that we had for ds. We have a Mothercare playbead cot (assuming it still works when DH puts it back together Confused) and for ds I think we got the mattress from Mothercare too - as I recall it was the sprung one that they do.

Now I've started looking and am getting overwhelmed by all the choices and have no idea what's good and what's not. And whether there is maybe a 'bargain' to be had somewhere (although don't want to compromise on quality / safety).

I want sprung, not foam, for a 120 x 60 cot. I'm thinking a budget of £100 ish should be sufficient? Does that sound reasonable?

Any wise suggestions as to where to go for a quality mattress?

Thanks

Apologies for typos - on iPad so can't re-read the post Blush

I was you a few months ago. Got my replacement mattress from MC as it is a funny size, but noticed bargains on Kiddicare when looking. £100 plenty enough!

These people are very good and can make any type mattress (foam, sprung, organic etc) to any size. A sprung 120x60 seems to be around £50

I have used the website rush linked to. They are good quality and customer care is good. too. They will also do sheets, travel cot mattresses, changing mats etc.

Thanks - I'll check out that website.

Newbike - may I ask why you didn't go with Kiddicare if there were bargains? I've never used them - are they any good?

Biscuits - only because we have a very unusual size cot (115 cm x 58 cm) and Mothercare the only place that had mattresses this size.

Biscuitsandtea · 02/01/2012 22:29

Oh I see, so Kiddicare didn't do your size - I get it. I just wondered if they were rubbish or something!

My question is Sprung or foam which is best?! I haven't had a baby for 6 years! I remember having sprung from both of the girls before- and my husband asking why they had to be new each time lol!

I recently got nursery connections precious coir cot mattress from preciouslittleone.com.it was 46.95,real bargain for a mattress like that.it has everything i wanted and natural product. As we borrowed the world from our little ones we need to be as green as possible in our choices, which is healthier, too.
