Do travel cots really only last until they can stand up.

My DD is 19 months old and has been using the Samsonite Bubble travel cot until now. She now rolls too hard and the whole thing moves with her so I need to put her in something else. I borrowed my friends Baby Weavers travel cot which she slept in and was going to buy one, but I note that it says only suitable until they can stand up. What on earth do you put them in until they are ready for a bed? Is there a travel cot that lasts longer.

If they can stand up them they can climb out. Or stand up and tip it up, maybe.
Not sure what you can use instead.

I didn't know that! We use a travel cot all the time. DS (nearly 2yo) has never come anywhere near tipping it.

Yes, once they can climb out they're not really safe anymore, but luckily DS didn't. If you're worried about climbing out/tipping then one like this might help. Once they are big enough to climb out you could use a ready bed

Is this solely for travel purposes rather than use at home?

They fit under the sheet to stop the child rolling out of bed. We used them with 6 month old with no problems. However, if you have the sort of child who would crawl out of bed, I'm not sure how suitable they would be.

Ds used a travel cot at 2 and he is BIG- he wasn't left unsupervised / without a monitor on though.

Dd is only just 1 - we are going on hols today - she'll be in ds's old travel cot.

Thanks for the suggestions - yes it is for travel, ideally possible to take on a plane too. She didnt climb out the standard travel cot, but I think she probably would if she didnt like it. I think maybe a ready bed would be the thing for her, thanks.
