Bedside cots - are they useful for BF and night-time feeds?

I'd like to hear from anyone who has used a bedside cot for night-time BF. I plan to rrom-in for the first 6 months and it sounds like this type of cot would make life easier. Any opinions or experience e.g. brands etc would be appreciated.

They look great...wish I'd got one as ended up with em.c section. SOL just got one from Germany...cheaper on continent than UK.will be back with brand if I can. Good luck!

We have a German one. Pinolino I think? It's a cot to bed to bench arrangement so we use it as a crib in bench mode.

We are planning a little co-sleeper cot this time if I can justify the cost. First time round we used a "normal" cot(one that you can higher and lower so we could make it bed height) with one side removed and then my husband somehow attached it to the bed making a bedside cot. This is all the mothercare one is as far as I can tell!

It was definitely worth it. It was fantastic to be able to just turn over and feed without properly waking up. You don't have to get out of bed at all. If you actuallybed share you aren't supposed to use a douvet and various other safe-sleeping guidelines which by pushing them aside into their own little space I felt a lot safer about.

The only thing is the cots are quite big so getting out yourself you have to shimmy down the bed. Some of the co-sleeper cots nct sell are that bit smaller which appeal to me but I haven't quite justified the cost to myself when we could use the cot we have...

emsies - my DH did exactly the same with one of these for £60 from mothercare. He took the side off and put a bit of MDF in the bottom which extended out the base of the crib by a few inches, and bridged the small gap between the cot and our mattress. Perfect and cheap as chips as long as you don't want to co-sleep beyond the time they outgrow it! The proper co sleeping cots seem to be cot size rather than crib size so this option takes up a lot less space in your bedroom too.

This is the one I really want - but you're right, adapting a crib would be considerably cheaper and as we are broke might be the way to go...

I never see these on ebay. Sob.

I have a bedside cot. It saved my sanity, once husband actually got around to putting the damn thing up!

I'm looking for a Bednest but due to a stock issue they have none available until October and my baby is due in September. Does anyone know of anywhere I can find one secondhand?

I have a Mamas and Papas one - best thing I ever bought for my dc's - all 3 have used it and meant I got fairly reasonable sleep. They all went in it from day one when they were home from hospital.
