Truckle beds - good idea or waste of money?

I want to buy a proper bed for my 4 year old DD. I have seen lots of truckle beds (sleep-over type bed available to fit under original bed). It seems like a great idea for sleep-overs but is it worth the money? By the time you've bought the extra truckle bed, mattress and bedding, it could be an extra £300.Has anyone got a truckle bed and does it get enough use to justify the cost?

We've got one - it was on special offer so not ludicrously expensive - it gets used for when DD has friends to sleepover.

It also gets pushed up against her bed to make a double for when we have adults to stay (no spare room and DD relegated to a blow up bed in DS's room)

If you're just going to use it for DDs friends its probably not worth the money when a blow up bed will do

I have stackabeds (think that's what they're called) for my DS - basically they stack on top of one another. So you have to buy an extra mattress but otherwise that's it. Think it cost about £100. My DS is a bit high up (seemed so at first but he has never fallen out and that is the only proper bed he's ever had) and on their own the beds are low but for the money, it can't be beaten. Can also be used as a guest bed for other adults.
