unfortunatly the one i really like in Argos cannot be spilt and since DS1 is only 2 and DS2 4 months, i wont be needing the top bunk for a little while...

if you have bunk beds that can be split and that you would be happy to recommend, then please post the link!

thank you!!

I got some really good ones from aspace mAil order.

We bought splittable ones over 20 years ago - dead simple plain pine with v sturdy slats which drop into slots on the sides - & are still using them as single beds.

They are also dead easy to take apart & quite small to store against future use.

So you are right to hold out for 2 single beds but I can't link to mine, sorry!

this ebay shop has 2 metal ones & 1 wooden one - any good? They are a bit cheap, considering they come with mattresses, so quality probably not the best...Aspace stuff is lovely but quite expensive unless you're lucky with a sale.

You might be best going to a local bed shop, if there is one anywhere near you - it's much easier to decide if you can see them!

I have some solid pine ones that split from John Lewis, that I'm looking to sell. (London Area. Let me know if you are still looking.

we have aspace ones too. Grin they have been in constant use for the last 6 years and are still going strong.
(the jack and jill ones)

the good thing about these is you can also use the 'top' bunk as a first toddler bed, despite the size, as you just fit the safety rail. we used it that way for a long time as our youngest has cerebral palsy and needed a bed guard for much longer.

and because the ladder just unhooks, if you have an inquisitive toddler, you can just unhook it after the big kid is up, and put the ladder on the top bunk to deter adventurers...

i love my bunks, can you tell? Grin
