I’m aware I could get criticism for this post but here goes.
We are in the final stages of buying our first home. It’s taken many years to get to this point and will be past retirement when mortgage is paid off. I’ve been doing minimum work since my 2 year old was born but have now lined up another job and childcare for the other kids.
However I’m bloody terrified to do this in the current climate. We receive £1600 a month in UC (high rent) despite DH earning more than the average wage. By moving into work we have £300 less a month (once wages, childcare etc accounted for). Childcare costs won’t change much when youngest is in school unfortunately.
Buying a home has been my dream for so long but now I’m terrified that mortgage rates will spiral, economy will get even worse and we won’t be able to afford little luxuries like kids swimming lessons.
