Currently paying £86.00 pcm which has now increased to £159.90 pcm. My water usage has increased from just under 400 litres in July 2025 to 850 litres July 2026. There’s 3 of us using the water (me and two teen boys) we have a gym membership and shower most of the time at the gym. I haven’t watered the garden in months! The hot tub - previously used a lot last summer has sat empty all summer this year as we use the spa at David Lloyd. I just cannot fathom how we could have used so much water!! 🤷🏼‍♀️

the meter was still going round with o water usage so they are sending someone out to look at the meter-at least they agree it’s very high! 🥴 had a plumber friend round to check the toilets (2) no issues! He also check pipes around the house and could find nothing.

If they find a leak then ask about a leakage allowance .

Google what your consumption should theoretically be. Compare against previous bills. Insist your water meter is checked. Insist they explain your increased consumption in writing. I'm water companies do this a lot. It's probably greatly exaggerated.

We have had a similar issue but our water meter is quite far from the house as we are a development of properties in a gated bit. The water meters are outside the gate. I have been told it’s likely to be a leak in the pipes under the ground between my house and the water meter which is my responsibility to fix! I am so stressed.
