Childcare and universal credit

Childcare and universal credit question

I submitted my childcare costs to universal credit. They’ve paid a proportion. However they paid more than half. Me and ex and me aren’t together so we split childcare 50/50. So they’ve technically paid for some of his half (he is not on universal credit).

So should I have just claimed for half. I stupidly just submitted the invoice as evidence?

universal credit haven’t paid me yet so I have time to contact them tomorrow and change it if it’s wrong.

They pay 85% claim, it doesn't matter if your ex then pays anything towards it. If you wanted them to only pay your portion of the childcare then you need to submit a bill showing just your portion.

Or get your ex to pay 50/50 on the outstanding balance, than this what we do. He pays half of the remaining bill (which is minimal).

So I could submit the claim, they pay 85% which covers my half and then leave my ex to pay the remaining amount (which is less than half)?

You could do, or what I do is just split what I actually paid. My bill is small as my youngest only goes once a week it's £35, they pay £30 so I get a £5 bill. I would just split that amount, it never felt right to be profiting on the amount but if he paid the remainder that could also work.

We get discounted school trips, in the court order he needs to pay 50/50 of the costs. I just split what we actually pay rather than the full amount, Disneyland for example on a trip would have been £400 each, he ended up paying £165.

Same with free school meals, my ex is meant to pay for the meals on his days but now the kids get free food at school. I used to still make him pay the money but I think we both ride the UC wave of help now (even though he earns £90,000) and I move my focus onto more important things.
