Pah! Still no fairy lights. Very slow errands this morning (post office, butcher, library, dry cleaners) followed by slow bus ride to flat (cleaning, admin registering appliances for warranties and insurance, replacing a window lock). Three buses home because the direct one had just vanished, in the manner of a child in Stranger Things. Rushed into Sainsburys to buy emergency pasta to avoid cooking, to find that DH had ordered Thai takeaway.
Spends: Β£70 butcher will likely spend another Β£25 when I pick up the ham.
Β£18 Sainsburys on lots of pasta and salads, which werenβt needed but can be frozen and set aside for a rainy day.
Early start tomorrow to take DS to work , so heading to bed soon.
Need- I sometimes think that if we had left Ddad in hospital last summer after his admission, and refused to sort anything out, he would have been a βbed-blockerβ, and social services would have had to get themselves in gear rather faster to assess him for residential/nursing care. We would have saved Β£15k, but he would never have reconciled himself to living in a care home, had he been stuck in a hospital ward. So it was for the best.
Is your DF in a nursing care home or residential? If the latter, they can be a bit hesitant if the needs of the resident have increased. They never want to sayβWe canβt really do what is required for this person,β because everyone has an attachment to the status quo. So periods of stasis and indecision creep in, and itβs never clear at the time why the thing that should be happening, isnβt happening.
Obviously I donβt know if this is what is going on, but it may be that the home is not rushing to remove him from a hospital setting where they are better equipped to deal with any deterioration in your dadβs condition.
Itβs pants though and you are right to insist they do their assessment right now, and not leave him as someone elseβs problem by default.
I am enjoying Stranger Things, btw, only 3 episodes in. I am surprised by how violent it is: I thought it was more like ET, hence vanilla. Obviously hadnβt been paying attention! The performance by the child in playing Elle/11 is extraordinary, and her situation is so tragic and heart rending.
Two excellent books collected from the library today. I have had a cracking year of reading, including useful stuff for DS, for under Β£20. Thatβs supplied me with books for two reading groups, a newly published book purchased by the service at my request, lots of interlibrary loans, books recommended via podcasts and newspaper reviews, and books kept on extended/ renewed loans.
