Child care costs help from universal credits

Is anyone else having issue with universal credit’s refusing to verify child care costs? They have been making me run around and making excuses as to why they can’t verify the cost. This is the third time in the same month that they can’t verify. they’ve asked for a bank manager’s letter because they couldn’t tell what transaction was on my bank statement asking for more bank statements to compare the transaction, and now they’re saying they can’t clarify who the provider even though I’ve used her for 3 years and she is registered is so I feel like I’ve been given the runaround so the don’t have to pay.

I don’t think this is uncommon I had the same thing with a holiday club provider (council run) so much back and forth honestly. The transaction, the childcare provider, needed a specific paid invoice with children’s names and dob’s. I felt really done in by it all, I never got the money in the end as I think I gave up as losing the will to live.

I have been told quite a lot of mums are getting the same issue at the moment from all different areas it’s like they are refusing to pay

We have had to jump through hoops providing tiny breakdowns of our fees as some parents are having issues with UC.

They want everyone working but make it hard going at times.

I also read an article that was basically saying tax free childcare will just pay their part of the invoice - including any extras - but UC will make a fuss about things like meals and consumables extras. Basically those earning less are being penalised more.

If you had to take time off work due to being unable to afford childcare you’d be penalised for it too. It is really difficult. I would prefer more direct subsidisation to child care providers so it’s cheaper for everyone.

Hi! I searched for threads on this as I'm just applying for the first time following marriage breakdown. They asked me for a letter from the provider with registration number etc. Provided that, then they asked for the amounts, so I sent screenshot from parent pay. Now they're saying they need more info and breakdown of costs from the provider. It's just wrap around care done in house by the school so I feel like I'm harassing the poor receptionist who does it all, and apparently I'll have to do the same every month? Surely the school can't be writing individual letters for every UC claimant, we are in quite a deprived area so there will be loads. I'm acquaintances on a chatty level with the other class mums, some of whom I assume will claim UC but don't feel close enough to ask them how they do it.

Not much of a point to my post but I was just happy to find this thread and realise it's not just me!
