Tesco vs Aldi

Hi guys.

So right now I have a tesco delivery with a delivery saver costing £6.99 per month and the website says I have saved around £80 in the last six months in costs of delivery as on a large shop I would usually need to get a taxi which would be around £6 per week (£24 per month instead of the £6.99).

I have considered returning back to Aldi, however I have a few things to keep in mind. My husband cannot carry heavy items after an injury in the shoulder, but on the other end of the scale I do have two older children who can help carry heavy items with me now. I can aldo do the weekly shop in two trips over the week rather than one.

I know tesco does Aldi price match and that some items are not available within Aldi, however I am lucky enough to be local to a Tesco, Aldi AND Iceland within walking distance.

Opinions please, do you think Aldi or Tesco would be more beneficial?

Thanks guys x

Why not one big Tesco deliveries a month (without the saver fee) with all the heavy stuff
and then the rest from aldi that you carry back (good for fitness so win win!)

Use Aldi for everything you need/want where their own brand product is acceptable.

Tesco or wherever for the odd thing that they can't manage or where you don't like the Aldi product.

Aldi is likely to be cheaper than Tesco if that's what you mean by 'better' so I'd use Aldi as much as possible and perhaps just go to Tesco or get an occasional delivery if you fancy a change. We have all the supermarkets nearby but go to Tesco the least as it seems to be the worst combination of price/quality.

If you don't have a shopping trolley to get your groceries home it would be worthwhile.

I don’t think Aldi is cheap anymore and most of the time Tesco have the branded items for not much more or on club card deals . There’s obviously going to be some stuff cheaper but it’s if you can be bothered to go to 2 supermarkets and remember the difference . Maybe do the same shop in Aldi this week that you have in Tesco and compare .

Iceland may still do the delivery service where you shop as normal and then they deliver it to your home, used to use it when it was easy enough to walk to but rather difficult to lug home walking for a mile!
I wish more shops did this as somerfields was a Godsend when DD was little with no car.
I find these days the only way to save money is to shop around (if you can) as sticking to one shop means there might be some savings but everything else has been bumped up in price to counter act it. Shop around and you can get almost everything you need at the best price. Appreciate this is impossible or difficult for a lot of people though.

I use Subscribe & Save on Amazon for a lot of my heavy non-food items. Items on this are a bit cheaper than the one-off purchase price. You can set the frequency of deliveries, and it works out cheaper anyway if things like hand soap are bought in bulk eg 5L bottles. Having it delivered is a godsend when you don’t have a car!

I have just swapped to Tesco delivery from Aldi. Don’t get me wrong, I really like Aldi food but weekly shops were getting close to £100 with no alcohol because of all the middle isle crap that I am too weak to resist. I would actually prefer if Aldi had the scan as you go things so that you can totally it up as you go. At least by shopping online, I can see the live total as we go.
