There’s a price cap on the cost of energy but not on the price of food. why?

Probably because most people have to use gas and electric but with food there are already lots of cheaper options and more expensive options so you buy what is within your budget or shop at the cheaper stores .

@ThatDenimExpert I get wat you mean but in a way it doesnt matter because the price cap like the price of the cheapest food you can possibly buy can still rise a lot look at the last few years the price cap for energy hit around 5000 for typical usage

Many of the cheaper options have disappeared from the shelves, or become significantly more expensive.
I think food pricing was ridiculously low for years though, and a combination of factors have made that no longer sustainable.

But there are still options ie you can buy a pack of mince and make a dinner for a family from it ( + veg) or you can buy each member of the family a steak to have for dinner ( + sides) , one is a considerably cheaper meal . Gas is gas , yes there are different suppliers but it’s the same stuff being sold .
