Spent £8 yesterday on revision stationary, £16 Aldi flowers for DM & Friday treats
got to do a full shop today.
Pay day on Monday and I’m about out tbh

Mochi1fudge · 29/03/2025 07:33

Frugal meal out not as frugal as hoped. £30 for two courses with two soft drinks. Mix up over the bill and we all just chipped in. Was a great night with lovely friends so can't complain (too much 😂)

This weekend is being spent at home clearing out a shed. DH and DS both at work so DD and I visiting my DM tomorrow. Got loads on at Easter so happy to have a couple of quieter weekends before then.

BigSkies2022 · 29/03/2025 11:37

Frugal meals all the way here this week, but hasn't stopped me running out of money. Payday (for joint account top-up from DH) on Monday, my payday on Tuesday. DH has given me DS' utility bills money (I pay rent, DH pays utilities and 'phone) and I am mildly irritated that I have to remind him to do this every time, and of how much it is. DH is a generous man (took us to the theatre again last night as an example, and out for lunch yesterday), but has lost sight, as his income has risen, of running on tight margins. We've brought our finances together very slowly over 20 years, with a lot of trust on both sides that we had the same values and would always strive to keep our respective ends up and do our best for the family. And that's worked well and been the case; but at this point in our lives we should probably learn to be more of a team and set some explicit shared financial goals.

Anyway, once he is back from his work trip, and decompressed, I think a regular money date would be a good change instituted.

NSD for me thankfully, lovely day again weather wise have a lovely day everyone 😊

MaryGreenhill · 29/03/2025 17:30

Spoke too soon , Chinese takeaway for 2 not me 😁 , £30 .

Mochi1fudge · 29/03/2025 18:49

I spoke too soon too Mary DD and I went to a Pan Asian restaurant as DH and DS both at work and both her friends are busy this weekend. £33 two mains and two soft drinks.

Also Lidl £30. 🤔 I'll keep trying. Tomorrow may be NSD as visit to DMs then back home for food.

Mochi1fudge · 29/03/2025 18:49

Ps. Its very windy here so clearing out the shed was postponed 😂

lifelongfrugaleer · 29/03/2025 19:40

Out for tea in lieu of Mother’s Day £95 down to £61 thanks to code. Lovely gifts from the DC

£150 shopping
got £89 left to Monday but nothing needed

Imperfectpolly · 29/03/2025 20:18

I'm finding it very hard to have a NSD too.
I needed an every day small handbag so bought one today. Also bought a phone charger as there's only 1 left working in the house.

Electric bill came in and was more than expected so that will hit me hard too. Going forward I'm going to put away money during the summer to help towards the winter bills.

The next couple of days will be spend days as we're heading to London. Will have to try hard for some NSDs when back.

ChipshopPickledEgg · 29/03/2025 20:47

Had a reasonably low spend weekend so far had Thursday and Friday off work too hasn't been spend free but it's been essentials/food shopping and the like.
Considered a takeaway for dinner but I equally got food cooking before I got too into the idea!
Car insurance renewal this week 🤢 😷

MaryGreenhill · 29/03/2025 20:55

AHH @Mochi1fudge that's the way it goes sometimes, as long as you both had a lovely time ☺️

pistachiosanscream · 29/03/2025 21:16

@Imperfectpolly i make a payment monthly for electricity. Same amount every month and it means the funds build up when I use less and I’m still paying the same amount. it’s not a plan I signed up to I just go online and make payments.

today was €24.59 for navy school leggings in next
€4.50 for Mother’s Day card
€25 for apache pizza.
very busy day helping my mother move apartments but she’s all settled now. Though I have a date with lots of command strips and a level in the near future!

Redhairandhottubs · 29/03/2025 21:56

£20 today on coffee and cake with Mum and Dad (early Mothers Day treat for DM who is going on holiday tomorrow).
£20 on a top up shop which included £8 tube of hand cream as I’d run out. I normally get it from Amazon but I’ve put myself on an Amazon ban as has got into the habit of ordering stuff on a whim that I could really manage without.

Frugal25 · 30/03/2025 16:14

A good weekend here, beautiful sunshine so making the most of it and have chucked the little one outside whilst I garden. (Got some beautiful plants for mother's day)
I also make monthly payments of the same amount for gas and elec and although at the mo I'm in debt, it will soon even out and I'll be in credit in summer. Swings and roundabouts.
Yesterday went to take back shoes that I can't get on daughter's feet, they said a swap is all they could do so bought two pairs that do fit for an extra £14 but it's on a pre paid card so it's already gone from my account so that doesn't really count!
£15 today on a cake and tea for mum in garden centre and £3 on a toy for little one as she was well behaved for three hours.

PenniesButton · 30/03/2025 18:01

Spent £25 very easily on two pizza slices and drinks on the beach in Edinburgh today- money well spent as they were delicious, as was the £10 ice creams we also ate walking down the promenade. Portobello is just LOVELY in the sunshine <3

PenniesButton · 30/03/2025 18:02

Also spent £79 in Dobbies- bought a LOT of compost to fill up my new planters, some baby plants to start me off and lots of seeds to try and get going from scratch. I haven't the foggiest what I'm doing, I just bung them in and hope for the best every year, but it's my first in Scotland so I'm wondering what will survive here.

MaryGreenhill · 30/03/2025 18:26

NSD for me yay .
Hope everyone has had a lovely Mother's day 💐 ❤️

Mochi1fudge · 30/03/2025 21:07

LSD at least. Needed top up from coop £8.

Nice day - we went to visit DM and I pressure washed her garage door. Had a delicious lunch with Japanese food (Lidl special) and done very little until DD asked me if I'd washed her PE kit (whoops 🤭). Funny old day is Mother's Day, hard work when the DC were younger (DH works shifts so often on my own), now we've lost MIL it's hard in other ways. Happy with a book on my Kindle and listening to the radio.

pistachiosanscream · 30/03/2025 21:26

LSD here. €9 on Amazon for some barrier cream, €9 on groceries and €13 at the cafe in the park for tea and a treat with small child snd DH. Lovely relaxed day today and sunshine so especially nice.

avoided buying anything in the garden centre and also didn’t check out the dresses in my shopping cart. Tomorrow I’m travelling for work to a location with a shop I’ve vouchers for so hoping I can fill the gaps in my wardrobe there.

lifelongfrugaleer · 31/03/2025 09:08

Pay day

MaryGreenhill · 31/03/2025 15:31

Nsd again yay!
Beautiful day here hope everyone has this too 😊

ChipshopPickledEgg · 31/03/2025 19:14

Brought some latte stencils. £1.69
Other than that avoided the shops today.

Redhairandhottubs · 31/03/2025 20:13

NSD yesterday. I was bored in the afternoon and nearly went into town for a wander but instead I occupied myself by cleaning out the kitchen cupboards. Felt very virtuous!
£97 today on my online food shop. My weekly food budget is £100 so will try and avoid too up shops if I can. The price of food is hideous. There’s only 2 of us (although young adult DS does eat a lot) I really feel for those with large families.

Mochi1fudge · 31/03/2025 21:26

£1.65 first class stamp
£2.59 Lidl

Busy day at work and home so kept occupied!

Frugal25 · 31/03/2025 22:30

Spent today when I didn't need to. £3 on a sarnie when I had lunch in the fridge. And £6 on a magazine little one "desperately needed" and I'd said no for three days but decided to surprise her with.
Now tweaking budget to offset the £9! Lol
