In total how much does your weekly shop cost and your location?

Also are you branded, non branded or a mixture?

Interested to see how this varies throughout the UK

South-East.

Two kids. One adult. If I don’t include the dogs food…it’s about £300 a week. But we have organic meat, fresh fish (home delivered) farmers fruit and veg etc.

We don’t splurge on much tbh - good quality food will be the last to go if I ever have to make cut-backs.

Iamallowedtodisagreewithyou · 16/02/2025 13:59

Just me here ususally spend £60-70 a week but like a pp said it's good quality organic food. If I want it I just get it.

nahthatsnotforme · 16/02/2025 14:02

Me and husband plus guests at least once a week.
Must be £150+

I cook from scratch a lot and bake. It's ridiculous

Cazs818 · 16/02/2025 14:02

North east , 3 adults 2 children . One puppy & 3 cats & fish

Typically between £70/100 per week , birthday weeks and school holidays etc cost extra 100/125 per week

CraftyGin · 16/02/2025 14:04

3 adults - £15 - 20 per day.

I shop daily and cook from scratch. I have virtually no food waste.

travelmadmum23 · 16/02/2025 14:08

I'm going on a bit of a thrift year so looking at all the bills etc.

Iv just done a shop which will last 1 week only, £85 for 2a2c. This is limited luxuries such as crisps and yoghurt (own brand)... no organic food and everything will be home cooked meals. No ready meals etc.

I think it's extortionate 🤣 but I've clearly got nothing to moan about as it's less than some figures quoted on here.

its me and DP stays 4 times a week, plus I have an old fussy cat. My bills are £70 a week.

But I do have food waste and trying to cut that down as DP and I eat out at least once a week. But my bills covers my breakfast. Lunch and dinner for 2. plus snacks is. I am trying to batch cook lots and have a low spend food bill week monthly.

but I do cook from scratch and eat lots of fruit and veg. I am not fussy so eat whatever is on special offer. DP is fussy so that doesn’t help the bills.

herbetta · 16/02/2025 14:15

£40 per week. 2 adults. Mainly vegetarian. Good food / varied diet, mainly cook from scratch & batch cook. Take heavy advantage of quality items at discounted prices - yellow stickers, Farmfoods etc. Often will adapt quickly and base meals on what is available.

Good store cupboard & freezer stocks. I plan ahead, know my prices and buy in bulk when cheap. Also take full advantage of employer scheme to buy discounted gift vouchers and play all the loyalty schemes for discounts, cash, points etc (often on both mine & partner's accounts).

If it was just me I'd do it for even less. We need less food than we think. I try not to waste anything & happily grate broccoli stalks to add to coleslaw or make soups, likewise add Cauli leaves / stalks to Cauli cheese. Bulk out vege mince with any combo of grated carrot, celery, courgettes, oats, lentils, split peas etc etc - good for health & protein levels. Will actively seek very cheap brown bananas to freeze & use for cakes etc.

shellyleppard · 16/02/2025 14:19

east midlandsme plus two teenagers and 3 cats......so minumum of £120 a week?? do a main shop from morrisons then have to top up regularly with milk and lidl for cereal 🙄

MissyB1 · 16/02/2025 14:24

Houseflatboatplanejump · 16/02/2025 14:30

£85 for 2a2c is not extortionate, more than it would have been a few years ago but my guess would be very typical average would be £100-150 for same size family without them splurging etc

Autumn1990 · 16/02/2025 14:33

Probably about £50 a week. 2 adults and 2 dc. We grow a lot of our own food and I freeze, can etc as well.
if you’ve any community fridges, tbbt, community shops nearby that will reduce your bills

BeaAndBen · 16/02/2025 14:33

£85 for three adults most weeks, plus the odd takeaway.

Lifestooshort71 · 16/02/2025 15:04

I couldn't work it out tbh as my shopping will always have cleaning products, shampoo, laundry stuff, tinfoil, loo rolls, etc, etc! I presume you do mean just edibles?

dottydodah · 16/02/2025 15:05

4/5 Adults here .Bill around £180../200 pw. That includes loo rolls toiletries and laundry stuff.Eat fairly simply ,Roast Chicken Sunday (occ Beef or lamb) Mince chilli/s pie /meatloaf .cooked from scratch. Dont have takeouts or eat out unless someones BD. No alcohol as recovering from Cancer .some chocolate and biscuits .no pet food (bought at pets at home) Food is a mad price still .We dont have hols abroad and only run 1 (old) car

MintTwirl · 16/02/2025 15:11

Currently around £120 a week for 2 adults, two teens and a younger dc. That’s food only including a top up shop midweek.

Relocatethecockringsbeforethemormonsarrive · 16/02/2025 15:13

About £80 per week for our household of two adults and a baby, who doesn't eat food yet. We are in Bavaria though.

I find it slightly cheaper here in Germany, than in the UK. It could be cheaper but my husband is a fussy bugger.

Thighdentitycrisis · 16/02/2025 15:15

About 30 just me in London. Don’t know what it goes on…
Yesterday 22£ for the week ahead mostly fresh fruit and veg.

75Hard · 16/02/2025 15:15

That sounds pretty decent OP! The years of £30 budget shops are gone. If you're on Instagram though, can I recommend Cardiff Mum? She does loads of series around £25 for 5 main meals (for 4)

We spend £200 a week - 2a 1c, no alcohol. BUT one of the adults is my DM who is ill and needs loads of high protein supplements, and I'm very short on time so there's lots of pre chopped veggies and 'shortcut' kind of foods in there too. I could probably do it on a lot less if I cooked everything from scratch/didn't buy as much for DM.

No33 · 16/02/2025 15:20

About £100/w for me, 2 children and cats.

Zoflorabore · 16/02/2025 15:30

3 adults and a 14 year old who eats like an adult, 2 with autism and fussy eaters and we also have a husky.

I would say we spend at least £250-300 per week, no alcohol at all but we spend a bloody fortune on cans of Pepsi Max ( for 2 ) and cans of Diet Coke for the other 2.

our food bill is our biggest expense by far. Our rent is only £125 per week…

Loveduppenguin · 16/02/2025 15:37

I’m in Ireland and so far this month…including my shopping being delivered tomorrow I have spent €230 that’s for me and 2 dc that live with me 50% of the time. I have a DP that stays a few nights a week too so i feed him obviously when he is here. That works out at about less than 60 per week.

YourChirpyFatball · 16/02/2025 15:46

Approximately £130 pm so around £30 ISH per week. Single, no pets. Mainly chicken & good quality sausages for meat meals plus vegetables, rice or pasta meals. Occasionally love fish fingers & mash. Dessert is mainly greek yogurt and frozen fruit thawed. Or an orange. My weakness is trips to the shop for chocolate which I crave daily!
Bread made in bread maker around once a week. This definitely saves me money.

JBJ · 16/02/2025 16:23

Me, 18yo ds and a medium sized dog. Probably about £120, including toiletries, cleaning stuff, dog stuff etc.
