Water bill high?

Recently moved into a 2 bedroom terrace, just me. Received a water bill for £92.00 for the last month. Most of the bill was for sewerage charges which was over 50 quid. Does this bill seem high?

It does... I'm in a 2 bed apartment with united utilities and mine is £27pm

I'm in a 2 bed terrace and am billed every 6 months. The one last month was 157, which given it's Thames Water, was a pleasant surprise. So yours seems very high for a month.

Are you sure some wasn't debt from the previous resident? I'd certainly query it.

Is your house metered?
If so look at the start read and end read, was either estimated?
If the end read was estimated, I suggest that you provide a new actual read, they will cancel the old bill and re bill you.
As metered water charges are variable, I suggest that you NEVER set up a monthly direct debit as they can debit your account even if the charges need investigation.
As an alternative I suggest that you setup a monthly standing order with your bank for the average cost for a family of your size.
Finally most water cos have special schemes for people on certain benefits that can effectively cap your charges, if you feel that you may qualify I would check this out.
