Can no longer afford to private rent

Any help appreciated
We've been or private renting our whole adult lives, since I was 18 and had our son who is now 13. We've been in current home for 6 years but the landlord wants the house back so has issues a s from 21. We are a low income family who receives UC, Im not working as I suffer from severe OCD, intrusive thoughts and compilations and severe anxiety which also causes depression. I don't really go out and my only outside time is usually spent in our garden. My husband does work part time but also has his own health struggles.
We can't afford private rent so have contacted the council who are in the middle of a 'homeless assessment' after I've sent them everything they need I'm awaiting a phone call (not sure what it's about)
My Dr wrote to them as she is worried that if I am evicted by bailiffs or put in a hotel it will be detrimental to my health and has required we are given a higher banding to enable us to bid on a property to try and make the changes easier for me to cope with.
It's been weeks since I sent them everything and I'm not eating or sleeping with worry and just wondered if anyone has any insight as to wether my Drs letter will help or is it most likely that we will be forced to wait for bailiffs still?
Seriously not coping at the moment and being in limbo not know what will happen is the worst feeling.
TIA x

Unfortunately, no one will be able to tell you, as it is down to your council, your individual circumstances and the current availability of housing stock.

In my council, the housing team tries to negotiate with the LL to see if you can stay, if that doesn't work they wait until the day of eviction and put you into temporary housing. This could be outside the borough. Then if they accept that they have a duty to house your household they will place you into a band. For two beds there is a 2-4 year wait, could be longer/shorter depending on what areas you bid on.

Look on your council website. It should document the housing process plus provide average waiting times.

If you have a child, councils are obligated to help you.

Contact Shelter:

My dad was higher priority because of health and he still waited years for a property tbh. Unfortunately waits are long. Some housing association ones round here are still cheaper than private but more expensive than council and are easier to get direct through them, not sure if that’s an option in your area? Maybe contact shelter/Cab for advice?

You won’t be left homeless but you could still be placed in temporary accommodation and this varies in councils, some have temp houses/flats etc. My council does use hotels etc. Councils have an obligation with children but this still applies. Many children i’ve worked with are living like this.

Its great you’ve got doctors help but it would be up to your council wether it makes a didference in the short term.
