Swaps that are good

Trying to reduce spending as are most of us. I've changed my soya milk to the Aldi own version at only 50p a carton and it's good.

I did use to use Neals yard rose beauty balm at £50 a tub, changed to No 7 cleansing balm that's around £11 and it's lovely. No7 is often on 3 for 2 also.

I buy large Greek yogurt and add pomegranate seeds and chai seeds to bulk it out too.

Any other swaps I may like?

I'm open to any swaps, always trying stuff from Aldi, Lidl, Company Store, Home Bargains etc. Most recent discovery was (of all places) Sainsbury's own brand Ginger Nuts are actually nicer than McVities at only half the cost. In Asda McVities Ginger Nuts are £1.50 which I simply refuse to pay. Sainsbury's own brand are £0.79 and surprisingly actually more flavoursome. Normally when buying own brand you expect some compromise on quality but it's normally acceptable considering the price differential. My only growing issue is I end up going to circa 7 to 8 stores to get all these great bargains eating into fuel and time costs. Buying in bulk helps but I do sometimes wonder how much I'm really saving when I could have worked an extra hour or wear on the car / fuel costs. My urge to find bargains always seems to override this thought pattern however. Not making a point, just thinking out loud.

Just try cheaper versions of everything you buy normally.

Just about everything is totally fine in Aldi especially and you'll wonder why you spent so much on things like £50 face cream and branded cleaning products in the past.

As @Poisonata says, Sainsburys do some good own brand biscuits, their fig roles (for DF, not me!) have a better proportion of filling than the branded ones and are 1/3 of the price. Similarly, Lidl do their own brand of Lotus Biscoff that DH prefers.

I really like Cien moisturiser at Lidl, esp. the day cream, costs under £3 - I was using Clarins.

There isn't much else I can suggest because most of what I buy is ingredients rather than products - but even then, why pay £1.65 for homepride plain flour (£2.05 for McDougals) when Sainsburys is 79p for the same 1kg?

Swaps are subjective to you or/and families tastes. I’m happy with Aldi, Lidl or Tesco tomato sauce for instance as don’t use it much and my little niece is happy with any.
mayo, I am Hellman’s or Heinz as only tried coop which was not good.
tomato purée is good at again Aldi Lidl, Tesco. Same with any passata, pesto, beans.
cheddar cheese, again any, same with blue, Brie etc
laundry, is either Aldi or Lidl as use powder. Again good, same with dishwasher tabs or liquid.
I think there are loads more but you have to try yourself and see what works for you…….as the saying goes ‘I’ll try anything once’ ! 😊

I buy everything own brand except for Fairy liquid because it lasts the longest and toiletries like shampoos and conditioners, never found decent supermarket versions for these so I buy loreal, or herbal essences etc when on offer.

For shampoo and conditioner for me I go to TK Maxx and buy the huge bottles of BedHead - lasts for months and months and I hair wash every day.

I only buy cruelty free toiletries and household cleaning products.

this sounds like I’m virtue signalling but it’s great because it instantly reduces choice fatigue.

so many own brands are cruelty free that I don’t feel I’m missing out.

I use Aldi moisturiser and laundry products. Never think to go elsewhere.
