How much money do you have for free spending a month?

I know it’s a bit how long is a piece of string, but in theory I should have around £1000 which I feel should be enough?
DH has around £2000 - a bit more maybe - so as a household we have £3000 each month.

However as we don’t share finances for me it is £1000 and I use quite a bit of that for things for the DC / days out with the DC.

£1000 should be enough, right? After petrol, food, my share of the bills? I think I need to start writing down where it goes.
I do buy all the Christmas presents for the dc so I think that means this time of year I feel like I never have as much money.

It doesn’t matter what others have, it won’t help you have more money? Why is your husband not paying for his own children (assuming they’re his children)? That sounds awful, I couldn’t imagine a father living with his own children who wouldn’t buy them birthday and Christmas presents, or even day to day costs. Does he not like his children? Does he not respect you?

As a household you have £36k a year disposable income - of course that's 'enough'. Do a budget and tell your dh to start pulling his weight.

Why isn't he paying towards his children? Is he abusive?

Review your budget and how you share money.

DC expenses come out of the joint pot then what's remaining is split 50/50 between you and DH.

Whether you have £30 or £3000 pm spare, they're both your responsibility so both need to contribute to the cost of.
