I am desperately trying to make ends meet, I'm frantically applying for better paid jobs and getting nowhere. Are there any reputable sites that I can sign up for evening WFH work?

Does it have to be evening?

Cantcopewiththecosts · 28/09/2024 15:59

Yes because I work during the day.

Wouldn't it be better to look very locally for this kind of thing? So, shop and restaurant windows / FB / word of mouth?

Cantcopewiththecosts · 28/09/2024 16:04

I can't work out of the home in the evenings because I'm a lone parent without childcare or I would be first in line for any retail/customer service/bar job I could get.

You can't WFH without childcare. It's not fair on your children or your employer.

How much extra do you need to earn?

What about vinted? I've made £1k in the last year or so.
Have you made sure you are claiming everything you're entitled to? And cut back on unnecessary direct debits, phone contracts etc.

What do you do at the moment?

It is if it's evening work when my children are in bed.

I'm a middle earning home owner and applying for every job I can that has a higher salary but it's so competitive at the moment in my field. I can turn around very complex documents very quickly. I may set myself up to freelance in my specialist area but I wouldn't know where to start with marketing and selling my services.

Would your contract allow you to work freelance alongside paid employment? Most wouldn't.

I'm not sure it is practical or possible to take on a second job with working full time, only when your children are asleep. When will you manage sleep? Eat? Wash? Clean?

I'm sorry you're in this situation.

Online tutoring?

greatcoffeebadhair · 28/09/2024 16:51

Sorry, I completely failed to read the OP.

Small businesses often need things like a book keeper, or social media marketing. Or someone to help with their websites. Maybe you could do something along those lines? They tend to be able to.employ someone quickly too.

VictoryOrDeath · 29/09/2024 10:21

I think freelancing like you mentioned could potentially give the best return, and could also let you dip your toe in the water. What would help you to do this?

Karmaisac4t · 29/09/2024 10:23

Try Sensee, they are WFH call centre roles for various companies, they do wide range of shift patterns

JC03745 · 29/09/2024 12:40

Proof reading?
Colleague does this as a side line to his regular, Mon-Fri role and all from home. I know he did course/s, but I don't know how long they were. He often gets secondary or uni students requesting proof reading, but also has a company that send him documents.

Big law firms need night paralegals and document processors to turn around documents - phone around top firms (Google biggest law firms in uk) and ask how they recruit.
