Hi
So my DD17 (18 end of aug) is doing an apprenticeship in business through the college in town. She is being paid for this and has a zero hour contract.
This is confusing me and UC have said they cant verify shes in full time education.
Can anyone advise please?

She isn't in full time education if she is on a paid apprenticeship.

She isn't in full time education and won't have been since the start of the apprenticeship.

Surely you can grasp that being paid suggests she’s not in full time education?

If she's paid then she's not in FTE.

If her pay is very low she may be able to claim UC in her own right but given the low Standard Allowance for under 25s and absence of a Work Allowance that's probably a long shot.

If you've been paid tax credits and child benefit for her whilst she's been doing an apprenticeship, you've claimed incorrectly and you've been overpaid. As PP's have said, an apprenticeship is not full time education.

My DD is 17 and in an apprenticeship and one day college, she is not on our UC claim as she is considered working. DD was taken off our tax credits straight away last August.
