Deflation?

Now that inflation is back to normal I know it means prices are still going up, just nowhere near as quickly as they were, but I've noticed that quite a few things in the supermarket have actually gone DOWN in price. Has anyone else noticed this?

Got my gas and electric bill today and it was so low that I dug out last year's bill. Gas and electric was £95 today but £149 last year 💀

Are we in danger of deflation?

Not noticed things I buy getting cheaper.

Some sectors, like energy, could have a drop but other sectors like service industry may remain increasing. So I don't think deflation is a risk at the moment.

A big increase in unemployment, due to A.I and other factors, could reduce the demand for goods and services, so deflation is possible but if Bank of England drops interest rate a bit, we may see CPIH being in the 2-3% range.

What's CPIH?

A measure of inflation, which includes housing cost.

CPIH - consumer price index.

My poll isn't going very well. I'm the only one that has voted yes so far!

I'm job hunting and salaries have deflated, roles at my level paying around 45k last year now seeing a lot at around 40k for the same responsibilities, does that count?

I feel like my shopping has gone up recently to be honest. Some products are more expensive recently.

Eating out/takeaways have increased maybe be with staffing costs and minimum wage as well as food/energy costs.

As for energy it’s the lowest it’s been for a while but it will change again in october and January just in time for those winter bills.

Im still awaiting any kind of pay rise from April ( as the rest of the public sector i assume) now inflation is low i’m sure that will be very minimal despite what inflation was this time last year. Defo less cash these days!

Everything seems to be steaming upwards here. Even the kids have noticed their money doesn't stretch as far in the school cafeteria. It's just all very, very tight at the moment

We were having a laugh in the local londis yesterday about how small the multi packs of chocolate bars are , for the price. You used to get 4 decent size boost or toffee crisp in a pack for a quid. Now they resemble 'fun size' bars and it's £1.35.

A normal size, or what would have been normal/ individual size in ye olden days Mc Coys crisps are now £1.25. Bonkers!
