Maintenance

Hi, I'm filling a form out for proof of all income. However it states on one page "Maintenance" and on the other page "Maintenance payments". What are they referring to? Thanks

Money your partner pays towards the kids.

Presumably maintenance is money you receive for DC if RP and maintenance payments is money you pay out for DC if NRP.

Thanks for the replies, however what does that mean pay out for DC and NRP? Is it Maintenance payments i spend on the kids as sillylittlethings mentions above? Clothes, food, trips out etc?

If that is the case what are they are referring to below as Maintenance Payments? is that not the same as the other things they ask for separately below: school meals, pocket money and clothing and shoes?

Also on another question, is Maintenance (under Income below) a benefit? If i don't get this benefit would it be zero money for both Maintenance and Maintenance Payments? Thank you

It’s either money you revive from a partner if divorced (income) or payments you make (spending).

flipent · 15/07/2024 12:56

Income = Maintenance you receive
Spending = Maintenance you pay

Are you still with or married to the father of your children? If so it's irrelevant to you and you put 0 in each box.
If however you are a single parent (RP=Resident Parent) and claiming child maintenance from your ex (child's father) then you will have a maintenance figure to put in your income section.
If you are a single parent but the kids don't live with you (NRP=Non Resident Parent) then you will probably be paying maintenance to your ex. So you would put this figure in the Spending section.

If neither applies to you and you also aren't receiving/paying Spousal maintenance following a divorce (quite rare) then it's 0 in each box.

It's not a benefit. HTH.

Thanks Hop, much appreciated.

Also..

I'm self-employed, where it says "Wages" on the form above is this what I turnover a month or what I'm left with after allowable expenses are taking off = net profit?

Iv googled the terminology and it states Wages is not Turnover, from this Wages is what you are left with from self employment?

Thanks
