Well done, everybody! I've only had 2 NSDs so far out of 8 days in June, but it's at least met my minimum level of 2 per week. I've spent £72 more than last month at this time, according to my bank app, but hopefully that will settle down now that I have everything for DH for next weekend.

Today went for a run, took ds to gymnastics and then went to pick up Father's Day gifts from John Lewis (already paid), bought ds a basketball at Decathlon £10 and then spent £25 on pizza takeaway for dinner. Not super frugal, but it could have been worse!

I was tempted to look for a straw bag for the summer in the charity shops in our local city, but it has been so cool/cold lately that I don't feel very summery - so I might have saved a wee bit of money there!

Hoping for nice weather again tomorrow so that we can try out the basketball at our local park. Might manage a NSD, too.

Good luck all.

Destined to not have many NSDs this week!! 😣£1.50 on mail bags - But I have sold a couple of items on Vinted today!! 😏

Songlines · 09/06/2024 08:32

6/8
I've resisted a couple of things on Vinted that I didn't really need, thanks for keeping me accountable

TheMainCharacter · 09/06/2024 12:33

2 NSD in a row for me but I need to do the fortnightly BIG shop tomorrow plus two subscriptions come out tomorrow. They’re only every 6 months so skew this months spending slightly.

Cuwins · 09/06/2024 19:08

A rare non-working no spend day for me today however it has been an expensive week so was needed.
I always spend less on my work days and I'm working 3 days instead of 2 this week so that's a good sign.

FoolShapeHeart · 09/06/2024 22:48

Only 1 NSD this week, would've been 2 but I caved and bought chocolate after a very difficult day on Friday. Aiming for 3 next week. I'm decluttering as well and so far £5 into my bank from sales (more due, but I'll count it when it hits my bank).

moimichme · 10/06/2024 19:26

Sometimes chocolate is necessary @FoolShapeHeart - hope it was nice and that you're feeling better. And well done on the selling success!

@Cuwins good luck! 👍

Work was very busy and stressful today, and will be tomorrow, too, but I managed to spend £25 on a groceries top-up this evening, for fruit/veg/salad. Hoping for a NSD tomorrow!

DreamCatchingSpiders · 10/06/2024 22:42

First NSD no spend day today. I'm trying to get back on track. I'm.so behind, that I posted on the May thread 😂

FoolShapeHeart · 11/06/2024 00:47

Thanks @moimichme !

1st NSD of the week today 👍 We have plans that involve spending for Tuesday, Wednesday & probably Thursday, but I'll aim to avoid any incidental spends!

Rainbow1901 · 11/06/2024 08:01

Well as at yesterday I have managed 3 NSD since June began. Pathetic!! Really must do better!! 😒

moimichme · 12/06/2024 12:26

NSD yesterday, phew! Today I'll likely have some spending on the way to jiu-jitsu with ds later, but hopefully £10 ish or less at the café.

My banking app still says I've spent more than this time last month, but it seems like I'm still on track overall as long as I don't overdo it in the next 2.5 weeks before payday. Good luck all!

TheMainCharacter · 12/06/2024 12:28

Ugh I’m doing terribly.

Monday we spent
£25 on drinks, a cake, and puddings out (lunch was ‘free’ with Clubcard vouchers)
£25.98 on a birthday present

Tuesday
£21.97 on another birthday present
£2.90 on antihistamines
£6.91 on vinted on some shorts for dd
plus one of the subscriptions went out £29.98
£230.47 in the supermarket

Today I bought hair dye and some bite cream £17.99

I still need to buy another birthday present and have two more subscriptions to go out. I don’t even want to add it all up 🙈

TheMainCharacter · 12/06/2024 12:36

New totals
Groceries £358.62
Presents £113.95
Clothing/jewellery £71.02
Case of wine £30.88
Eating out £25
Health/beauty/household £50.87

psuedocream3 · 12/06/2024 14:18

8/11 NSDs in total for me. Yesterday was my spendy day...

  • Petrol - £30
  • £50 Costa gift cards - £43.50
  • Car insurance - £240 (+ £25 cashback)
  • Present - £1.47

All expected spending though, so already budgeted for. Hoping today will be a NSD, no spends planned and not leaving the house... so fingers crossed.

Rainbow1901 · 12/06/2024 20:51

£25 on petrol and £10 on the Bottle Stall, Cake stall and Raffle tickets at my GDs school where I was helping out. I did win a raffle prize though so I'm happy enough with that.
I still need to have some more NSD days - but in the absence of that - I'll just be accountable and try and keep the spending low!!

moimichme · 13/06/2024 18:48

Yesterday was low-spend: about £7 at Costa on the way to ds' jiu-jitsu class. Rainbow I think low-spend days are almost as useful as NSDs. The goal for me isn't perfection, but to be more mindful and not spend so much impulsively.

For me, today was a NSD! But we're apparently out of sugar. Hopefully DH will do a small groceries top-up shop tomorrow.

This morning I was sorely tempted by foolishly looking at a website for one of my 'problem' spending categories. They have a gift with purchase offer until this weekend that I really shouldn't go for. I don't need it. I have enough. (Repeat x 100!)

Pumpkin40 · 15/06/2024 09:00

No NSD this week. Hopefully tomorrow. We have spent extra on the food shop, spent more than planned on a big birthday and bought a new car. So a very expensive week!

Vinorosso74 · 15/06/2024 14:17

Managed 2 NSDs this week. Out for dinner this evening for Father's day as DD is busy tomorrow.
Tomorrow should be a NSD or at least low spend. I'm working all this coming week so that should help keep spending down.

Songlines · 15/06/2024 19:02

Out to dinner last night but out of joint holiday spends, so already accounted for.
NSDs on Wednesday, Thursday and yesterday apart from the above.
NSD today so far, but I'm tempted because the football (which I find boring so I'm in retreat online 😀)
12/15
I've done some money juggling, putting some money into euros for a future trip, but I'm not counting that as I've just moved it from one account to another.

DreamCatchingSpiders · 15/06/2024 22:08

NSD for me, and have planned my budget for the rest of the month. Have also had £100 from Nationwide, and £18 from Topcashback.

I've ordered from Hello Fresh via topcashback, so there's £10 and have used the 60% off voucher. So that's a cheaper grocery week!

moimichme · 16/06/2024 08:30

Congratulations on the car, Pumpkin - I hope it works well for you! And good work everyone.

I'm not quite sure how, but in the end I managed 4 NSDs last week. Partly due to DH picking up a few groceries yesterday rather than me. Very pleased with that, in any case!

Today is likely to be quite spendy. Need to buy a couple of gifts for friends' babies and a lipstick and blush for my tween niece's birthday coming up (for dance shows), plus we're taking DH to lunch at one of his fav places this afternoon in a nearby city. 😊

Apart from that, I'm putting together a packing list for our trip to the U.S. this summer. Prioritising older clothes that I could leave behind if needed, because I have some old things to go through there and some sentimental items may come home with us. Will try and keep that to a minimum, though - we already have a bit too much clutter...!

Songlines · 16/06/2024 18:01

Another NSD today, plus £100 from Nationwide, so that's gone straight into the holiday pot.
Just checked my Quidco (thanks for the reminder) and I've got £180! I'll think carefully about that, maybe into the Christmas pot
Home tomorrow so I'll need to do a food shop plus pay for car service and new wheelbearing - that'll be spendy!
13/16

moimichme · 19/06/2024 06:24

The weekend was quite spendy, as anticipated, with lunch out and a trip to the local beach plus groceries and a few charity shop items for ds (shorts) and me (black blazer for work that I can button up, unlike the navy one I've had for 15 years - the secondhand blazer was a steal at £3, in great condition). Spent nearly £150 all in, but it was lovely and mostly budgeted for.

After that, on Monday and yesterday I managed NSDs. 😇

Likely £10 ish as a treat for ds before jiu-jitsu this afternoon. As long as I'm careful and mindful, I'll still be in the black on payday.

Good luck everyone!

Songlines · 19/06/2024 20:51

NSD on Monday
Fuel in car plus yellow stickered stuff in M&S yesterday - £50 in total
Ice cream today - £ 3
Not got the car bill yet but that's in the car pot
So the only 'treat' spend was today's ice-cream 👍
14/19
If I'm careful then I should get through to payday on Tuesday without touching the contingency fund
Oh, just remembered that I've spent a fiver on a Too Good To Go box from our local, very good, farm shop. Looking forward to picking that up tomorrow

We are starting a car account. We definitely need one! I’ve been talking about it for years. MOT advisories have been quoted at £550 and we need them doing before the next MOT ideally. NSD for me today. First one in ages.
