Food pantry finds / yellow sticker etc thread

I have been trying to use these as a family on a budget, I just wondered if anyone wanted to share e.g. ideas for cooking, items found etc!

I also use Too Good to Go and have two teens who I'm going to suggest it to as well.

last week in our local food pantry I got some purple sprouting broccoli and M& S Mash, which I am going to give the teens for their dinner along with homemade fishmongers and veg, I got some sweet potatoes and butternut squash which I will make into a simple curry later in the week.

I have just been to the local Co-op which had just put out the sticker food and got a couple of Kirsty's veggie lasagnes which I have stuck in the freezer and will have myself for dinners with veg as a standby meal, they are about £2 each. I also got a fresh salmon and potato salad also for about the same price which I will have for my dinner.

I'm not really budgeting a certain amount per week, just seeking bargains, I'm also not much of a cook and happy to use ready meals if they are a bargain.

Anyway please feel free if you want to join in, I couldn't see a similar thread running.

There's a shed near me that 'stocks' items that are out of date from co-op. Today I picked up a baguette, made it into garlic bread for tea. Bulked up some pasta for tea.

It can be quite helpful with extras can't it. I quite like not knowing what you might find.

Yesterday picked up some 'nice' veggie one pot dinners in the reduced section for elderly relative, they can keep them in the freezer.

Made a couple of veggie curries, one with butternut squash, red pepper and sweet potato, which we had yesterday, the other with mushrooms and tomatoes for dinner tonight. All from the food pantry last week.

They sound great @Orangesandlemons77 . I've not made it to our shed much, there's still some coriander knocking around which oll use with the veg curry we are having tomorrow.
There's also some bread happily going stale, I was thinking about crumbling it and popping it in the freezer for some kind of breaded pork/chicken.
We order our food, so don't really get any yellow stickers, but I'm always interested in ideas as I like to use everything up.

Managed to get some more bread from the shed, alongside some roast potatoes and yorkshire puddings from my daughters work.
So, yesterday we used some potatoes for our roast dinner, and yorkies. Tomorrow I'm considering stuffing the rest of the Yorkshire with something like pesto, mozzarella, tomatoes and parma ham. Served with salad.
Then The left over potatoes will work fried with beans and eggs. The bread, I'm thinking garlic bread again with the baguette, and maybe a bread and butter pudding with the loaf. Lots of free, filling food, can't argue with that.

Sounds good. I have another butternut squash for a curry this week too. Lots of nut based milk for smoothies. I find they tend to have vegan stuff, so can try new stuff.
