Apparently the average family throws away £800 a year of food.

I can honestly say we throw next to nothing.

What are your top tips for avoiding food wastage?

Are you a user or a chucker?

You can buy some veg loose in many supermarkets, more Tesco rather than Aldi/Lidl though. Cabbage I make into sauerkraut, but you can just put the cut side in a bag or clingwrap and it lasts ages in the fridge.

Yes cabbage is one of the better veg for storing a long time, thats true. I shop in Aldi and Lidl and unfortunately they dont sell much loose. No loose apples for exampe I noticed that yesterday.

But surely you can still buy one lemon from the greengrocer and two carrots it that's all you need? And I've not come across a butcher that won't sell one chop or two slices of bacon.

The butcher and greengrocer are not convenient for me, they dont open when I need and I will still need to go to the supermarket to go shopping even if they were.

I bet the people moaning about their food bills are the ones chucking lots out

It's there in the post you replied to. I didn't read into you, you failed to notice it for your smug middle class post.

I didn't write what you have put in bold. So it wasn't my post but a post i quoted in a response I wrote 3 days ago that you have an issue with?

Why not respond directly to that post instead?

Because you drew the parallel with the soaring energy bills as if they were the fault of people being profligate instead of a choice by energy companies to make us choose between warmth and food. Incredibly tone deaf, especially on cost of living board.

OK then.... if you actually read my post I wasn't saying that at all but I am fed up of arguing.

Back to the actual topic.
