We moved to Universal Credit by managed migration and are getting transitional protection. Will we get the April increase ?

Depends on circumstances like household make up, rent paid, other income whether from work or benefits etc.

Basically transitional protection is treated like 'mark time' pay at work. You stay on sum a until your current proper rate catches up with what you're getting with TP.

The increases will eat into whatever transitional protection you are getting so you won't be any better off or see much increase ( unless your TP is less than the increases).

I think it also depends on when you apply, it’s paired in arrears and you have to have one full assessment period after the increase before you see it, so many don’t see any extra money until June.

Hi all!
Im under managed migration and have to claim UC this month. I only get CTC. If I apply on the 9th of April will I get the increased benefit rate or do I have to wait until the end of the month to maximise my award?
Also, my husband is in full time employment and works shifts. Does he still have to go to the Job centre for an initial interview?

Sorry to waffle, but I’m finding this process really confusing and stressful!

Uc is paid in arrears so if you applied on 9th, your UC monthly assessment period would run from 9th April to 8th may. You would not see the increased payments until pay day a week later on 15th may.
Your husbands may need to go for ID appointment if his ID cannot be verified online, not everyone has to go.

@Babyroobs Thank you for responding. I’m pretty sure his id can be confirmed online as he’s a policeman. Also, if you wouldn’t mind advising me some more, I have 9 children, 4 have disabilities and I get Carers Allowance. It looks like I should be put in the “no work related requirements” group. Will I have to do a F2F interview or could I do it online?

Again if you can't be verified through online measures ( government gateway etc) then you may need to go to the job centre.
If you are putting yourself down as a carer for one of your disabled children then you'll have no work commitments so won't be asked to go to any work commitments interviews, but the initial ID appointment is different.

@Babyroobs Thanks SO much! I’ve been asking the helplines for weeks now and not one has given me a straight answer.
