DD had her car stolen, it's been recovered and is being assessed.
She's got 5 years protected NCB but had a non fault claim (a driver wrote her car off) two years ago.
Her policy expires this week whilst the claim is going through. What happens when it expires, is it ok to have a gap as she'll have no car.
Her policy renewal price doubled ( not including this accident) and I'm really fearful for her renewal because she needs a car to get to work.
We will have to put her on our policy for our second really old car for now.
Makes me sick how thieves can turn someone's life upside down with no regard.

Any car insurance experts on here?

I would check with the las ti airer a to see if she has to insure a car within a certain time frame.
That’s all you can do for now.
Is the car damaged? Is she likely to get it back soon? Does it still need insuring? Where is it being kept etc?
You may need to ring round for quotes but they get more expensive the closer to the renewal date a bit like plane tickets!!

You can have a gap - as she has no car to drive; but when I did this I had to insure a car in my name within 1 year of my insurance lapsing or I would loose my NCB I had built up (mine was protected too)
Some insurance companies you can keep earning your NCB as a named driver I think - can't remember who I saw it with - not sure if they do it anymore.
But insurance is ridiculously high for everyone this year anyway - especially in March!

@Haver74 - I don't know lol I read it on Martin Lewis that March is the most popular month to renew and when prices are at their highest
