weekend plans

Just wondered - what does everyone get up to at the weekends?
I always think I am the only one at home and everyone else is out, but then I go out and it's dead quiet and I realise I surely can't be the only one.

Did you mean to post this under Cost of Living? Are you looking for budget friendly activities?

For us - like most parents of nursery/juniors aged kids - weekends are a mix of -

  1. Ferrying dc To activities and clubs
  2. birthday parties
  3. occasional family gatherings
  4. household admin (laundry, getting groceries and week ready and set up)
  5. family meals
  6. The odd going out to venue X or Z for example the cinemas etc

Decorating or working.

I went into town yesterday to do a bit of fun shopping and it was packed, then ended up popping out to meet some friends for a quick drink and again it was so busy.

Today I went swimming (first thing, gym is expensive but always seems to be busy) and then we had a family party, went to the supermarket for some champagne (actual champers not Prosecco, both horrible imo but required for the party 😂) and that was busy too. I suppose it was a Sunday though.

Usually my weekends involve at least 2 of the following:
lunch/dinner out either with my family, wider family or friends
walk and pub trip
seeing friends either for daytime or evening stuff
going to the seaside
visiting dc at uni (maybe once a month)
shopping that needs doing
gym/swim either just me or the rest of my house might come too
a family activity - top golf/bowling/London and an activity
having people round for drinks/dinner

Where are you going that’s quiet, I’d like to go there as everywhere I seem to go is overrun 😂

Always start with gym and spa (year paid up front to maximise finances). Then a healthy breakfast and lunch at home, with a simple walk near to home (cheap!). In the evening we more often than not pop the pub for a couple early doors, being fairly mindful of drink costs. Rarely eat out as just isn’t worth the money anymore.

Most weekends nothing, this weekend we visited adult ds1, next weekend we have booked a cheap premier inn to get away because if I stay home, I do very little!

Going by the responses here you can very clearly see that what happens at weekends seems fairly directly correlated to the ages of DC. Age of DC not the only variable obviously but a fairly dramatically influential one.

Well it's under COL because I am going out less due to COL as my favourite past time is going to the shops haha...

Usually just walking to dog and having a coffee. Today DH bought himself chips in McDonalds. Occasionally we go to a local town, do errands and have coffee and cake.

Very occasionally we go to a local pub for Sunday roast.

Next week will be bloody expensive though. Going to BIL’s wedding so that’s a hotel room for us and also DDs who are travelling from their UNI cities. That’s Saturday and because we are in SW, Somerset and the in-laws are in Kent we’re meeting friends for lunch on Friday, then having dinner with DH’s aunt.
