Zero budgeting app/book/spreadsheet?

I'd like to give every pound a job as they say, I find budgeting really difficult as I just can't keep track of what we do or should spend on food or clothes or random stuff etc. I just can't seem to organise it in my mind. I could do with a spreadsheet or app or a piece of paper with a layout to help me with this. I'm not too sure about the apps that link to your bank account.

Can anyone show me something that might help? Maybe a book that talks me through it step by step? I need to get a grip on it.

Stoozing.com might help you with this. They have various money orientated sheets and have one for a statement of affairs. If you can't remember what you spend per month then get your bank statements for the past 3 months and work on an average to give you some idea.
You can enter your regular payments for everything such as monthly direct debits, if it is an annual direct debit then divide it by 12 to give a monthly payment. Credit cards, Income, energy are all listed and you can add more if needed. It all helps with budgets and if you have annual payments you can allocate money to savings to cover these.
It is free but you you do need to access it fairly regularly or you will lose it and have to start all over again. It's worth a look and will give you some indication of what you are spending and where - and.......... if you have enough income!! For example if you normally allocate say £500 for food this maybe an area where you can budget say £400 if not enough income and so on.
Have a play and see how you get on.

You Need a Budget is an app that does just what you’re looking for, it is paid for but you can get a free trial to check it out. I think there’s a thread on here somewhere for users (maybe in money matters?).

It links to your bank account & works on the principle of giving every pound a job.

Try this as a starting point - www.moneyhelper.org.uk/en/everyday-money/budgeting/budget-planner
You can build an excel sheet around it. You just need to remember to write down your spending.

Another recommendation for you need a budget. You pay monthly for it but it is worth every penny.
