Another heating one

Ok another one but it's doing my head in trying to work out what is cheaper, I'm not good at maths!

I live alone in a 3 bed house, but partner comes round at weekends
I have gas central heating and a electric fire in my living room.

I've had the gas central heating on for an hour in morning and hour in evening using around 2 units a day

2 units x 1.02264 x 39.3 / 3.6 = 22.32
22.32 x 7.07p/kWh = £1.59 so gas is costing me about 80p an hour is that right?

But only on for 2 hours isn't really getting warm about 13-15 degrees
I am using a electric throw and wearing a oodie so when sitting down it's not too bad.

Today I was too cold so put electric fire on, this has a thermostat on it so is not on all the time, would say it comes on for around 5 minutes a time, maybe 4 or 5 times an hour. Seems it used about 1 unit an hour in elec. so

1 x 28.19 so about 30p an hour.

I don't have a smart meter so trying to calculate what it is using is difficult

Doing this method 2 hrs gas heating and electric fire has got my living room to around 17 degrees. I'm warm and toasty.

When it's just me I'm happy with central heating for couple off hours and electric throw when sitting down but know partner will moan!

Just trying to work out if when feeling cold, put gas central heating on or electric fire to boost temperature in living room.

I know other rooms will be cold but spend most time in living room so wondering if daft trying to heat whole house?

Last year I was on a 2 yr fixed price so for Nov-Dec I used 112 units of gas which cost me £54.58 this was heating on all day when home and thermostat at 18-20.

Worked out if use the same this month as last year 112 units = 1244.0 at todays prices
1244.0 x = 96.98

So trying to cut down at moment on track to have used 4 units in elec and 2 units off gas a day so looking at 60 units at gas and 120 elec.

£48.91 elec
£74.00 gas

So for the long post does this seem right?

Do you have TRVs on your radiators? Little plastic dials with numbers on them.

Currently, gas is £0.07 per kWh, and electricity is £0.29 per kWh, so gas is vastly, vastly cheaper. But not if you are heating an entire house and only sitting in one room! That's where the TRVs come in. If you turn the whole house to 1 except the lounge, turn that to 3, and put the thermostat on 18, that should be the most cost effective way of heating the one room you are in, especially if you close the door.

What is one unit and where are you getting that info from please? Are you seeing meters tick up by one unit or something?

Life is so much easier with a smart meter. I can see exactly how much each hob ring takes to boil a pan, for example. Cooking super noodles costs me 7p, for example.
