Cheap but decent clothes for 13 year old

My GD is 13, has been bullied because she apparently doesn't wear the "right kind of clothes". Her parents are on low wages, have 2 other children (younger) and can't afford all the latest trends, brand names, etc. I help out when I can but am not able to work now, due to a disability. I'm not pension age yet and am on a very small budget. I buy all the GC clothes from Asda and Tesco, as it's what I can afford. The kids are always grateful and pleased with whatever I buy, but I feel so sad that my GD can't "keep up" with her friends who have better things. Any advice, please?

She could try looking on vinted for a few second hand brand name things. Or buy a couple of things new in the sales that can be worn over and over like a hoodie.

Vinted get dd river island stuff in there cheap.
H&M always good.
Primark can be good for some bits

Thanks for your suggestions. I'll look on Vinted to start with

Shein online is quite reasonable and the teens seem to like it.

Lottie4 · 22/11/2023 10:44

It might be worth taking her with you, so she can choose. Primark are fairly cheap and many teens like their clothes.

Dragonbed · 22/11/2023 10:47

Vinted, shein, primark, fb marketplace

Primproperpenny · 25/11/2023 23:14

I have one a similar age who likes Primark and Shein. Also Nike but we get in Sports Direct, so lots cheaper than online, eg a hoodie for £15 and not £60! Also try Vinted - you could get quite a few bits for £50. Even £25.

Re the bullying, report that to the school. I was in a similar position as a child and it’s why mine never miss out now, but I’m not minted by any means. Just have to be canny about where you buy.

I find girl clothes much cheaper likes of primark, matalan etc

Decafflatteplease · 29/11/2023 07:01

Another vote for vinted!

Also Primark seems popular with my teens, and cheap, although not the best quality!

M&M direct is good for designer clothes at cheap prices. I use this for my 14 year old ds.

SoddingWeddings · 29/11/2023 08:40

Vinted definitely.

Vinted, shein, primark, fb marketplace

Second all of these!!

MermaidEyes · 29/11/2023 09:27

Primark, H&M (their basics range is good), Shein, Nike or New Look in the sales. Make sure you let her choose her own clothes though. She's at the age where she should be able to decide for herself what she wants to wear.

DGPP · 29/11/2023 10:26

your poor DG. I would buy one thing chosen by her that can be worn a lot - like a branded hoody or something. Rest can be cheap clothes

bakebeans · 29/11/2023 19:34

I second Vinted. My daughter bought a pair o Nike airforce 1 barely worn for £30
