Hi, I'm new on here but my daughter has a problem which I thought somebody might have some good advice. I'm the dad by the way. Okay it's a long post so if you can stay with it please that would be great.
My daughter had my grandchild 12 years ago and she lived or lasted with her ex partner for 2 years before splitting up. They both went their separate ways . He wasn't the best at supporting her with child support but she carried on regardless. The last few years have been hard but he was still paying child maintenance till recently. He has not seen his daughter for 2 years now mainly because on the times he was seeing her she was coming back upset. It was her decision that she didn't want to stay out with him. In the last couple of years he has purchased a new house with his new partner. He recently stopped paying maintenance because he said he had gone on the sick and couldn't afford it anymore. My daughter had no option other than to get in touch with the cms. They put an order in and said he has to pay more than double the amount he was paying her. He got back in touch with them and said he was on the sick indefinitely. His best friend manages the company where he works so can quite easily help him out and meanwhile gives the cms his mother's address for all correspondence. He now send over £8 a week for child management whist bragging last week he had just got back from a 2 week holiday in Barbados. Any ideas anyone, it's not about the money it's more about the principle. Thanks

I would warn him to be careful about that because HMRC are watching them do this. There was an article on a while ago where HMRC were taking passports away from parents who weren't paying child support. If you think he is lying you could put in an anonymous report to HMRC as he is commuting tax fraud. They go by his wages through HMRC records so if he is getting cash in hand he is in trouble. However if he is just trying to blag the cms they can check his tax records to see he is still working. Maybe get her to call them and explain she doesn't believe he is on the sick
